Campers and caravans started rolling up last week for Brunchen etc.The circuit now has security people nigh on all of the once free spectating areas.Looking out of the w/screen Saturday and it didnt look like there was much room left!

I am booked into Camping am Nurburgring with 6 others, leaving at the crack of dawn Thursday. We will be in the Travel Destinations bit as its the only way of being sure of some space when we arrive!

Really looking forward to this year's race. Its great to see Zakspeed back with their SLS, and their are probably 10 teams who have a good chance of overall victory. Part of me is hoping for rain and a repeat of Maxime Martin's storming drive from a couple of years ago.

We'll be the ones in the minivan and the pickup, looking like the Clampitts!

Well I survived the N24!

Thanks for all the tips and advice.

I spotted the chap with the silver focus as I was setting up my tent, but couldn't find him on the campsite after much walking around!

So glad I went in the end, was an incredible experience!

Ah, yes I was most likely trackside. I basically slept at the tent and then got up and straight to the circuit ha.

Such an amazing event though, one of those things that you really have to go to before someone realises its far to much fun to be allowed.

I was there with camera, so pictures are here:

Well that was a bloomin fantastic weekend!!

Firstly the drive over on the autobahns in the early hours of Thursday morning, then into the misty Eiffel region was just unreal, it gave the place an ethereal atmosphere. And then trackside was incredible. Those Germans really know how to make the most of the 24h. Pretty sure they would need planning permission over here for some of the structures they built next to the track.

My favourite place was pflanzgarten and from brunnchen around to the karussel - the classic was a great race, and the variety of the field was one of the best I've seen. Watching the Golf GTI three-wheeling around the corners always drew a cheer!

The 24h race was a bit hazy if I'm honest, probably due to the cheap bitburger and wine from Rewe in Adenau. I'll definitely have to go back next year.

Anyway, onwards to Le Mans next month. Thanks for everyone's advice.

yes

The Classic is actually my favourite bit of the four days. Such a wonderful range of cars.
