Hello,

I'm entered in to a sprint, and while I could borrow a helmet I'm tempted to buy one instead. I've got the boots, gloves and suit from previous motorsport things, but not a helmet that will do.

I've had a google, but I find myself trawling through loads of motorcycle helmets (which is a massive distraction as I need a new one of those too).

Any good links for places to buy car helmets?

Also any advice for sprint novices gratefully received. My plan is to not crash and gradually improve.

Thanks,

Muppet.

Try Demon tweeks or Ears motorsport, Grand prix racewear, merlin motorsport for starters

Check your suit and gloves have the right certification and don't crash! I assume you have your licence sorted and the car is ready with timing strut.

If you're on a budget you can check out Playskool Motorsport or V2 helmets.

I got mine from playskool at the autosport show in Jan. Got the suit, helmet, gloves and boots for £500.

Just make sure you get one that is HANS certified and compatible, there is no price difference from playskool IIRC.

Try not to buy your helmet online to ensure it actually fits - no location given so no easy advice for a store

Make sure you get a HANS version you will need it for MSA Sprints and hill climbs from next year.
Recently got an e-mail from Mode Racewear they are doing Carbon approved lids for 400 quid

Thanks everyone. I won't be using Demon Tweeks unless I need a comparision price to make the lid I buy anywhere else seem cheap.

My plan was to try it on and send it back if it doesn't fit, most internet sites seem fine with this.

Really? Hans for sprints? Thanks MSA.

Currently I don't even need a four point harness - what would be the point of having HANS with an inertia reel seat belt?

Disclaimer on the HANS thing: It will be mandatory for all except Roadgoing Production Series classes - where it will be recommended
