Dan Cammish: how good is he, really?
Discussion
Hello Dan. Belated welcome to PH.
It’s a shame that pole-lap was disqualified due to a rule infringement. As you say, a real achievement after several seasons in rear engined rear wheel drive.
I’ve been very impressed by pretty much everything you’ve done since that extraordinary performance in Formula Ford. I started this threat because I was surprised/disappointed not to see your name being mentioned in this forum.
Although it would have been great to see your talent on the international stage, I think the BTCC will be a good way to raise your profile in British motorsport. Hopefully the team can get the car setup issues sorted in for the next round of the championship.
Fingers crossed for a successful campaign, this season and the years to come.

He waltzed through Formula Ford. Now he's looking like the class of the field in the Carrera Cup. So the question is, how good do you have to be to dominate at the level he's racing? For example, how would he perform against the best in Touring Cars, or even at Le Mans?
2 BTCC rounds in, I think its fair to say he's decent! A new car, and a new car to him and the results are coming already, I think he was on for another podium in race 3 if it were not for the puncture.Outside bet for title?

I certainly wouldn't bet against him. If the car comes on well, he's one of about eight or nine drivers with a realistic shot this year. Loving it!
I would love to see him take the championship. The car is competitive, and he seems to have adapted quickly to front wheel drive. However the rules (success ballast & reverse grids) make it impossible to predict how the season will pan out.
I don't think he win it this year the car still needs some development but he will certainly be in the hunt come last rd. Personally think it be between Ingram/goff/cook/morgan/Sutton. In some ways I think he is wasted in the btcc is talent should be used on the world stage but it's certainly good too see driviers of his calibre in the btcc at the same time.
THe young guns are here and it's looking good.

Good Morning,
Great weekend for me overall. Shame about Race 3 but these things happen. Just a slight touch but it was wheel to wheel and the rim shattered. I don't think either driver was overly to blame but I was disappointed to lose out on some valuable points.
Very positive that the car was quick in both the wet and dry conditions. I thought race 2 was good having led more than half the race and still finishing 4th with lots of weight and the hard tyre.
On to Thruxton next and full of confidence heading to a circuit where the Hondas have historically gone well.
The championship seems to be wide open at the moment. I will do my best to keep my head down and hopefully be in the mix at the final round.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.
Hopefully see some of you at a round this year.
Cheers.

Two points/requests from me..,
1) I had no idea what the previously requested custard test was until I googled it, it amused me, as such I would like to second the motion! - Come on Dan, be a lad and break out the birds!!
2) Can you please channel your inner Carrera Cup form and win the Championship so as the bookies cross my palm with silver!
For now, that will be all

Hi Dan,
Great start to the season, as you say luck is a big factor in btcc hopefully convert some decent quali sessions into podiums.
Manufacturer teams seem to have struggled in the first races, is there any balance of performance issues at all this year? How have you found the touring cars to drive compared with the Carrera cup cars? In my mind the touring cars seem to have a bigger window of operation but that might be made up! Seems tyre strategy will play a bigger part this year too. Random questions.. Sorry!
Cheers
