Yeah, just like that rubbish Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, both flattered by the brilliance of the McLaren MP4. Such overrated drivers! Senna so lucked into his 3 championships!
Not at all, other cars and drivers were pushing them. You can't argue against the fact there's only two cars that could win. There's lots of class in the drivers, just not in the machines they're driving. What a litany of deprived, depraved and depressed phers reporting in after that weekend.
- Clearly no one remembers the times when Rossi had no competition for example.
- Times have changed, Honda will bail. They seem very very clear it will be a long haul, as reflected in the comments and demenour of the Honda boss at Silverstone.
Even when a Monaco based Brit with dubious aspirations to become an American, driving a German car wins, it is just not enough for some.
Yet there is gushing pride all round that Porsche won Le Mans again.
Clearly Renault and Honda need some help. Perhaps the FIA should loosen the development rules for "new comers" to the technology in a similar way that MotoGP has done, whilst tightening the technical breadth of development....
Jean Todt's interview before the race was interesting. If there is no no agreement before 2017 on the rule changes then the FIA will dictate the rules to all. Ross Brawn possibly to return to rewrite the rule book before the decision is made. People may not like Max 50 Mosley but he knew that dicating to the teams was the only way to do it. Todt might be learning too.
The race was great. Williams putting the wind up Merc. Merc trying to spook Williams with their pit crew. Alonso gets points. Germany all over the podium for phers, Ferrari third. Rain, cars loosing many seconds on a lap, then gaining, confusion about tyres to use, sunshine at the end of the race, team mates poleaxing eachother.....
Best race for ages.
Give Williams another 100mn and they would have been on the podium too. Nice to see Sir Frank and his family smiling. Anyone who has listened to the Motor Sport Mag podcast with him will realise how long he has waited and the sheer determination he has exhibited.
With the loudly applauded technical take over of Aston Martin by AMG, they just won't be able to resist will they. F1 will soon be another industry where the UK just gives away its superiority by being "nice" and whilst cheering anyone but ourselves. However Lidl will be bringing 1000 jobs to the Brackley, Bicester area for the former F1 employees.

Should rename this to 'F1 on monday' seeing as you've forgotten about all the other motorsport.
Fair point, but felt the Silverstone big bang deserved it! Don't worry, balance will be altered next Monday. What should we focus on next week? I've already booked some article space for MotoGP... http://www.racedates.com/

It's only now with the W05/W06 that we have a car that is a dominant as the MP4/4 was in it's day. They were pushed only by each other. If it hadn't been for Suzuka everyone knows they'd have won it all.But that was the year of the rose tints so I guess it doesn't count as a valid comparison...

There have been MoM columns which have been about WRC, and nobody has commented.

Btcc is all in one thread and that's well into 60 pages and only half way through the season atm lemans 24hrs got into 70 pages so other motorsports are catching up to the lets be honest boring f1.
It was a very good race at a great venue won by a truly great driver in front of a wonderful crowd . I have watched GP racing since 1971 and whatever problems there are with F1 they nearly all relate to money and its distribution. Those who think Hamilton's wins are hollow show a lack of knowledge of GP racing history- grids are far closer now than at most times in the past- check out the grid times for late 60s Grands Prix for proof. Domination by one team ? Well that's without precedent- apart from , ermm,Mercedes in 50s, Ferrari in 61, Lotus in 78,Williams in 87, McLaren in 88,Brawn in 09 , and countless Schumacher years . It isn't a spec formula - thank God- that's why we don't get Formula Ford levels of close racing and that's why some of us love it . If you want 'close racing' watch the crashfest panto that constitutes the BTCC .....

....good F1 post...
I read this through and think you are on the right track.....good F1 post...
It would seem that either everyone else is too entrenched to agree or they don't like reading long posts :-).

It was the best race for quite some time in my opinion, had it all and could have had even more if it wasn't for a couple of crash prone lotus drivers!
Hamilton deserved the victory after battling with the williams on a few occasions and coming out on top early in the race- watch it again and see how Rosberg fairs throughout the race till it gets wet......(altough Hamilton did get a bit too 'excited' on the restart!)
-I'm fed up of the Rose tinted specs with formula 1 these days- there is good racing up and down the field, a dominant team is nothing new in F1, its why the rules are constantly evolving.
If an engineer can think of a good idea to put on the car, F1 has the money to create and implement it- thats why i love F1.

Quite. You can tell it's an F1 thread (irrespective of title) because everyone's p*ssing and moaning and arguing. All it's missing is some wise guy who's been watching sports car racing for a season to boasting about how much better WEC is than F1.
F1 isn't without its problems but which motor racing lover doesn't get goosebumps watching on-board footage of Hamilton on the run from Woodcote to Stowe? Watching the cars gently yaw through Chapel and then a quick stamp on the brakes and down a couple of gears into Stowe...it's bloody magic.
