Gigi Galli returns to World RX

The maddest Italian around (perhaps) gives rallycross another shot with Kia

Now this is exciting motorsport news. Gigi Galli, WRC oversteer hero, will compete in the Italian World Rallycross round next month. Should be quite entertaining...

He did compete last year but Gigi's arrival is significant for 2015 as he's in a new car. It's a Kia Rio. Well it's a Kia Rio Supercar, rather more interesting than the regular three-door hatch. There aren't any technical specs released yet but expect around 560hp, 1,300kg and 0-62mph in two seconds to keep it in line with the World RX grid. Yes, definitely more interesting.

Of his return Gigi said: "I'm delighted to be back in World RX... My supporters have been pushing for this to happen and combined with my endless passion for racing it has finally happened." He will be joined in his team by former teammate (and certified lunatic, presumably) Giovanni Bernacchini.

The round is at Franciacorta from October 16-18. Fingers crossed there's some video. Good luck Gigi!
