2016 BTCC silly season
Discussion
BMR Plato has a three year deal and the team will stay the same apart from Smith out and a average driver in with deep pockets as they do not want to upset Plato and Turks.
Aron Smith to Eurotech in the third Honda Type R.Smith has a bucket load of cash so could go anywhere,Motorbase,888,West Surrey Racing etc.
Rob Austin and Hunter Abbot in the Volvo V40
West Surrey Racing with the BMW I can see the same drivers.
Motorbase I can see Jackson staying there as he is a great driver but does not bring much money so possibly James Cole staying as he has a bucket full of cash or possibly Smith or Jordan. But how will they do next year when they have the same power as all the others and will not be allowed to turn the wick up.
Not sure what Andrew Jordan will do.He says he will be leaving 888 and cannot see him going back to Eurotech, will he join Rob Austin in the Volvo project.
Support out Paras will not be back,Infiniti pulled out pretty quick and they have something in common with team BWR,their team principals both lied live on TV.
Welsh Motorsport seam to be getting worse every season and need to ditch the Proton, not bother about building another can and just buy two Ford Focus off Mototbase and go from there.
Dont forget it was Tony Gilham who put the two Passet CC and 2 Insignia team together before Warren Scott bought the whole shooting match off him.Tony has a potential mega sponsor that has backed him before so I would expect a minimum of two Toyotas and possibly something very exciting.(As long as they are not pink and green)maybe with Andrew Jordan.
The only other rumours I have heard is that the Hyundai joining may be true to promote their soon to be launched range of N cars,a bit like BMWs M cars but watered down. The other one is Nissan with the Pulsar but dont know any details.

Good call on the Nissan, Pulsar would be a decent addition. Would any of the VAG group rock up in light of the recent scandal?
The VW group have no involvement with the Passats and Audis and will not even give a discount on parts and spares so they will not be involved with the BTCC in any way. They were thinking of entering F1 but thats out the window now.If Red Bull pull out of F1 because of the engine situation then VW group will be very keen to sell their Audi WEC and DTM teams to Red Bull but keep the Porsche WEC team as it is.
DTM is a msnufacturer series. There are no real privateers in there. Each team is operated under a specific factory umbrella. So if a manufacturer pulls out, it pulls out completely. That's not to say it won't change, but for the next 2 years, that's the way it works there.
It's impossible to win in WEC LMP1 unless you're in a factory entry. Ask Strakka. So again, if Audi sold their WEC team to Red Bull, they'd still have to support it.

Hyundai i30 for Welch next season according to Touring Car Times.
Interesting chose but gets to keep there own engine as the Hyundai shares the same type of engine. All we need is the kia rumours to come true now.rubystone said:

Strakka did struggle the first time, but they are developing their own, in house LMP1 at the moment. I don't know if this would just be entered in the 'privateer' LMP1 class though, alongslide rebellion and team bykolles. I can't see VAG group selling up their audi operation though, would be a bizaar thing to do.It's impossible to win in WEC LMP1 unless you're in a factory entry. Ask Strakka. back on topic I genuinely have no idea who will be driving what next year. I'm just going to sit back, wait for all the 'suprise announcements' which don't materialise, and see likely the same group of drivers on the grid next year, maybe with some musical chairs regarding who is driving what.

If that's what your sources reckon then I'll give the rest of your post a miss as it's likely to be dung!btcc123 said:
So a minimum of 300k is not much money to you but will get him a good drive in a BTCC team
what do you or I know about his finances or how many years commitment he can give to the BTCC? Based on your general statement you can say the exact same thing about every driver on the grid (ie that they all have bucket loads of cash) so they can all go wherever they want including the moon
