There are some beautiful views on Myherin. This is east of the car parks, I think around about 25-30 minutes walk..

First time rally for me. We're staying in Liverpool and and forest passes for the Saturday.
Few questions;
1) I'd like to see the rally in the afternoon and evening, where is the best spot for this?
2) car parks - ok with a z4? Or do I need a 4x4?
3) going to dyfnant however there's 3 dyfnants on google maps, anyone have the postcode for the car park?
Cheers!

Z4 will be fine, although you'll want to take it a bit slower. I've been in my Elise and a Smart Roadster before now. The amount if mud that you pick up is amazing.
Thanks, yeah I'll take it easy, just had visions of trying to get up tiny forest tracks to the car park whilst scraping the bumper..Can't wait
They are pretty tiny and if you have a 4x4 it'd be better, but you'll be fine.
My worst experience was a stage when they were in south Wales, I don't remember exactly which one but the car park was in worse condition than the actual rally stage by the time I left. The ones in north Wales have seemed pretty good to me.

Great day on Myherin, Ogier and Meeke looked a class above the others. Shame about Latvala and Neuville, it's never a surprise to hear they have gone off though!
Got away with the weather today, don't think we will on Dyfnant tomorrow!

After the top few went through Myherin 2 loads of oxygen thieves started leaving, walking down the stage around a blind corner. Nuts!
That'll be the 'once a year mob'. And you can tell who they are. Always turn up early in a van, out comes the crates of ale, the fireworks, the saws for chopping the odd tree down for a bonfire, watch a few cars, then leave early for the next overnight car park.....If they were hit, the sport would suffer drastically.
Talking of fireworks there has been loads of firecrackers being let off, but not one cheer. Get the hint chaps!
Today we were on Dyfnant, but most of the way through the Nationals we gave up as the drenching got too much! We were far from the only ones it seems! We heard Neuville crash, but didn't see it. Not the first time he has done that to me!

Well what a great and terrible 2 days of marshalling I had for this years event!
Arrived in Myherin at 6am Friday to get to my location on post 19, a 90 right come hairpin at the top of the spectator car park. Weather was kind to us with only a few occasional spurts of rain and hail. The wind however was relentless, and if not for that I'd have likely staid in my shorts all day, but it got stronger and stronger causing one large tree uprooted itself! A nice incident free days rallying with 95% of the spectators behaving. There was one incident of a foreign gentleman and his child working their way in to a prohibited area directly in the line of the traveling cars braking zone and below the road level, but it was ok as he said he was stood behind a tree, be that as it may he was told, the tree would not save him and his child should the car get it wrong, words to that effect were used . Thankfully a bit of shouting from other marshals and genuine spectators got the guy shifted.
After the stage a quick stop off to Aberystwyth was in order to re stock the food for Saturday's action before on to the digs in Borth. I'm so glad I booked this in advance as when we arrived it seemed so did half the rally! The guy running the hostel said he'd been fully booked all week with rally people. (Before giving the polish fans a right arse chewing about smoking in their room). A quick bite to eat at the only chippy in town and a few ciders, before making use of the power to charge all our devices for Saturday and getting our heads down for our 6am start to Dyfnant.
Sleeping in a sea facing room with 60mph winds battering it went better than expected!
Saturday - up showered and ready by 6:30 we set off for Dyfnant. The wind and rain already pretty stty by this point already. And I knew the day was going to be a cold and wet one. Got to my location on junction 6a/b, which was where the Irish corner decided to cam out for the morning run. Having spent the day in their company last year it was great to have them back again, they take no st off anyone and if your in danger of spoiling their days viewing then your in for a bad time!
A great mornings run with on and off spells of drizzle and heavy rain. No incidents to deal with. Chatted with some great people.
The evening run was disgusting weather wise, heavy relentless rain in the dark is no fun, this showed in the very low spectator numbers at the spectator area I was in charge of. Of the bunch that did come out, very few stayed for the full run, which wasn't that long at only some 45 cars. Only one incident of a couple of foreign spectators ( the trend has been noticed by many over the weekend) shining a high powered torch into the faces of the drivers as the approach them on the corner! A quick radio back to Deeside HQ and they were quickly dealt with by the Police that have been patrolling the forests all event. Once the closing car went through the area was stripped, got back to the car and stripped off the 2nd pair of wet through waterproofs. (Who in their right mind stitches a logo into a pair of waterproof trousers!?)
We left stage at roughly 8:30pm and got back home just after 11pm. The debris on the road for most of the journey was lethal. And we got luck with a falling branch just missing us.
All in all a great weekend, but tiring. Looking forward to next years event already, and being a month earlier fingers are firmly crossed we get an October like this years
TL:DR Marshaled 2 days. had fun, got drenched. Knackered now. Bring on next year!

Let's see if this thread can get as many comments as the Brazilian GP thread - if our home round of the WRC can't generate much interest, then the sport in this country needs major help.
Ah, well, maybe not. WRC just doesn't generate interest in the UK, it's invisible. A shame, this event used to have a massive following. Have to say, the final stage looks tricky.......
