Hello Paul,

I think I have met you in the Pod pits sometime.

What do you want to know ? Date is not officially announced but -probably- will be 12.-14.8. ,

as the NitrOlypmX are one week later.

There are two options : Get there as "Public Racer", pay 7€ per run and maybe get into a "quick 16" field Sat & Sun,

or Register as "Test & Tune" Team for 100€ per car and have 4 slots a day confirmed, no races.

T&T gets halfway decent pit space (limited because Formula Student same date on different pieces of track)

and Friday entry and allowance to camp / pit relatively close to the track.

PRDers are unlimited in numbers so expect loooooooong que-ups between finish and pits,

and between pits and start. No tech there but you have to find out if foreign starters are allowed.

Official announcement will be in spring 16 but entry will be opened much later.

You might even try to enter both ways (oh err...) to combine the best of both worlds and get most track time.

Hope to see you there, then I can announce some PHers.....8-))

Oh No, a whole bunch of Tazmanian Devils invading Germany ?

This could be great, in my dreams a certain Group of Special Engineers,

known as G/SE, might wake up from hibernation and join the fun.

I am working on-site at the moment, but may ask some PRD officials what´s possible

when I am back home.

Well I thought about PRDs past and today -after reading your question, sorry- got one of the directors on the phone.

There have been foreign guests at PRD in both "Public Race" and "Dragster T&T", this is also possible in 2016.

If you want to take part in "Public Race", your car needs a valid Registration with number plate,

so that covers most in the Taz Team, and the Driver needs to present a valid driving permit for public roads.

If one of the non-road legal cars wants to run, like the altereds, they can enter "Dragster T&T".

I have seen your "street" cars do between 9s and 12s, have they passed scrutineering in 2015

or do you just come to RWYBs ?

There is (sadly, IMO) no tech @ PRD but I think all Taz cars are well maintained and built to certain safety standards,

something that can´t be said about every car on the PRD tracks.

So plan ahead, if you have time, visit the Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim or Speyer,

enjoy the gorgeous gardens of Schwetzingen Castle park or take a splash in Hockenheim Aquadrome.

The official contact to the Hockenheim Ring is here : publicrace@hockenheimring.de or Tel. 0049 6205 950-108,

maybe you can book even now but I expect the orga to be set up around June.

Bit of an update : I have heard that you need to have a national license to enroll for "Dragster T&T",

if you don´t have one you can buy a weekend license from Hockenheim.

Entry forms for "Public Race Days" in the "Dragster T&T" are online now here :

http://www.nitrolympx.de/sites/default/files/files... ,

the cost per car is 150€ for 4 time Slots per day (Sat/Sun) and is good for one driver and up to 4 helpers per car.

The forms are in german, try a translation programme, or contact the lady from the ring, data are on page 1.

If you have questions about what to fill in the form, I might be able to help.

Page 2 is about the Driver, car and pit space needed, pages 3 to 5 are liability waivers,

the usual small print, and have to be signed by Driver & helpers.

Pit space may be smaller than you apply for, because Formula Student are having their event on the same date,

they don´t run on the quarter mile but take the whole standard pit area,

T&T Teams will have to compromise / cram on the startline straight and the grass beside it,

and every other square inch available. Showers & toilets are available, mains power too,

but better ask for that directly.

Maybe post some pics of your cars, that might help and get the ring people interested,

give them the info that your extreme-looking cars have passed scrutineering many times,

they are not used to tiny fiats with V8 engines....8-))

More info about PRD for the "public racers" with license plates :

http://www.hockenheimring.de/public-race if you want to pre-book a special deal :

The Driver pays 70€ for entry, 3 runs on the quartermile (extra runs are 7 a Pop)

and 2 nights of Camping Fr/Sat and Sat/Sun

(on the grass, or the rough, somewhere away from the Strip, mains power if you are lucky and arrive early,

the Queue starts in the morning, gates open 14:00 ) toilets are provided but may be portaloos.

Persons going Camping with the Driver pay 43€ for entry and Camping.

The fastest 16 of the public race Groups
Public Race Cars up to 1600 ccm
Public Race Cars 1600 ccm and bigger
Public Race Bikes
"VW only" Challenge

may enter one race on Sat and one race on Sun with trophies for the finalists.

If you enter early AND come early you might get a decent place, first come first served.

Read and translate the PRD page http://www.hockenheimring.de/public-race-days ,

there is a contact person listed there for more questions.

The whole Thing is more like a RWYB, be prepared for Queues in signing-on, at the gates,

for the lineup and getting back from the Strip to your campground because the Event is very crowded.

You might run against highly-tuned cars with AWD, the Strip is prepped to RWYB Standards,

but not FIA Standards because cars with treaded tyres take away some rubber.

Tims Slips are provided for every run but you have to go to a Container and ask for them.

Hello Paul,

you are quick off-track, didn´t know when you would be reading this so sent you pm as well.

Measure your cars but don´t worry too much, officially PRD is a "noise-restricted" Event and there is a 98dB limit.

On paper somewhere. The organizers don´t want FIA-style cars but they only come next weekend anyway...8-))

As long as you have some kind of tubing with "silencers" it will be OK,

for dragster T&T there are SG/SC/SPET cars with blowers, open headers etc,

they are rivalled for peak emissions by the turbo nutters with 4 or 6cyl. on two-step though .

I'm here in Germany and went to the Hockenheim ring. I think is was 15 euro for the day. Fun as hell and wonderful track. I was there when that GT500 spun out and almost hit the wall.
