Says here they're 'manual shift' http://www.fiaworldrallycross.com/about but they don't sound entirely manual shift in Craigs video, above.

How much do they weigh?

Yes indeed it was one way in and one way out. Went for a mooch around the paddock after the race for an hour, sat in the car and polished off three sections of the sunday times before driving straight out of the main gate.

Admitedly I picked a queue with 5 cars in it as opposed to the ones running from the campsite.....but the wife and kids we're well inpressed. Not sure everyone else was.

Anyway, bloody marvelous weekend. Saturday was ace, plenty going on and got Loeb to sign my boys plaster cast. Had a chat with tanner foust who told me to get a roll cage for my boy (rolled his quad, broke his arm) and it seemed like very few went on both days.

Solberg was driving like a man possesed, and while I'm sure he wasn't too dissapointed, that must rub a touch. The action in general was first class, it demands you pay attention. Some of the crowd were absolutely fanatical, think it was the Bakerlud lot, which I've never seen at a racectrack before. That focus was worth a cheer though, stupidly quick.

My only criticism was that of paying for a grandstand seat that wasn't allocated, the dick heads who choose to stand in front of the seating while the racing was on, and the lack of a tv screen somewhere. At one point a lady unfurled an enormous flag in front of the grandstand, which resulted in a verbal lambasting that was entirely deserved. If you only went on sunday I think you might feel a bit short changed, kicking around on saturday watching it all from the car was brilliant. Well worth it in my opinion.

Would love to know what the attendance was?

Driver fanclub's have been a feature of Euro Rallycross for years, even back to the late 80's era.
And yup, the Bakkerud fanclub are a marvelously metal bunch and follow him all over the place.... biggrin

They were particularly loud in Sweden, being as it's a stone's throw from his native Norway.
Probably as many Norwegians as Swedes there.

Brilliant. At least they had something to cheer, I can't see a brit troubling the podium for a few years to be honest....

Doran is the only one that seems to have the sponsorship backing to be able to put in a serious effort......just not sure his head is in the right place often enough to be a serious championship contender.
Shame Andrew Jordan can't put a package together to do a full season as well, as he's still got the talent for it (podium at Lydden a few years back in his one off return drive) and Mattius Ekstrom dovetails his WRX with his DTM season successfully.

Otherwise, your right, no GB youngsters on the horizon, out domestic championship classes out of sync with the European/World classes don't exactly help either, along with exposure for sponsors not being aligned with UK markets?

I went on Saturday with little to no experience of Rally Cross and had a cracking day, really enjoyed it and look forward to going again next time around. How does the British series compare to the world series by the way?

There are actually two British series at present: the British Rallycross Championship is the "main" series and has a wide array of classes (though the numbers in some of the classes aren't that high). The Supercars and Super National (2WD) catagories have good entries though and always provide some decent racing. There seems to be have been a bit of a Supercar explosion in the UK in the last couple of years, so now is a good time to check out the British Championship.

The BTRDA Championship is a clubman championship, so the bulk of the cars aren't big budget, but the racing is close.

As for the World Rallycross Championship I've been to two rounds (Belgium and England) this year and I hope to do at least one more (France) before the end of the year.

Few photos from Belgium here...

This, Quest must be able to do a better job than they are at the moment as it's not really that great. I'm grateful that it's on free to air, however they really should take advantage of the fact it's a damn sight easier to watch than most types of motorsport.

Also helps a bit if you played Dirt Rally.....

What about Dan Rooke? I'd say he's a GB youngster on the horizon.

Aside from Hansens win, they barely covered the after the line shenanigans. Blink and you missed it, several drivers must be livid.
