I went to Estering last year ,good weekend.
ETA.......Having been to 5 of the RX tracks ,it seems to be that visibility of nearly the whole track is a feature of all of them.Been to Holjes ,Sweden ,Mettet ,Belgium ,twice ,Estering and Hockenheimring, Germany and Lydden.
Shame to hear about Lydden Hill, it's perfect for Rally Cross. Not sure on how Silverstone can compete but I guess we'll find out.
Team Peugeot Hansen were kind enough to invite me down at the weekend. Got the chance to see behind the scenes with the team, the garage etc. Spent some time with Kevin and Timmy Hansen, got a chance to go into the TV lorry which was insanely complicated as you can see by all the equipment in there. Got into the pre-grid, had lunch with Loeb and then got invited up to the spotters stand with Ken Block's racing team. Not a bad way to spend a weekend!
Sorry for hijacking the thread!

It was the same for Japfest, used to be at Combe but the organisers decided to go to silverstone because they "could fit more cars", what they also did was change the ticket policy. For combe it was a car ticket (driver + 3 passengers) but silverstone is was one for each.
I went last year and remembered what a bleak place it is and won't be going back, also there were quite a few gaps and zero organisation of where the clubs were, we were shoved up on this raised hard standing which didn't fit the number of cars confirmed by the club and even the ones that did turn up were sent to the wrong club stands.
Combe has done it's own version and it's got all the joys/family feel and fun that the Japfest used to have, oh and it's still driver+2 passengers per ticket iirc.
I'm sure there are reasons why Silverstone is better (all I can think is that there are more toilets) but the evidence so far is not justifying the move. I do wonder if they will suffer low crowd numbers, Barcelona didn't look like it was full of people compared to other events! As I said before this will only harm WorldRX which needs to boost its' appeal, fingers crossed is big enough to do this despite moving.

I dislike Silverstone anyway as all the events I've gone to there have been souless and expensive, but I hope it doesn't damage World RX as it just starting to widen its fanbase.
What, by pulling all the free to air coverage this year?Rearrange into a sentence, 'itself foot shoots in the'

I live about 10 minutes from Silverstone but I can't see it being better than Lydden Hill - that track has such a good vibe about it. I haven't been to an event that good for a long time. Hopefully the future of these smaller tracks aren't going to suffer to the likes of Silverstone. I've done a track day on there and it was a boring, boring track and from past experience, tickets are really expensive.
Can't knock it until you've tried it and all that.

Motorsport News reported that 25,000 turned up last weekend.
I'm impressed with my guess then, as that's what I told my old mate who now lives in the USA who I used to go with to watch rallycross back in the 80's/90's, when I sent him a photo of the car park looking across from paddock corner.aeropilot said:

In answer to lucido grigio re parking....I was meant to have VIP parking (which was up the hill from the paddock) on Sunday but it was full, so they directed us into a small area (of the big field) that was where the accreditation tent was (north east of the top bend if looking at map with the start line at the bottom). That field was also used for general parking, tho being a huge area it was nowhere near full. They did open an exit gate onto Geddinge Lane so there was no need to try and fight a way to the one track entry/exit (Dumbrill Hill). Saying that, i left early as had to get home, so a) missed the final and b) missed any queues !
I fear it wont work at Silverstone...too big, open and flat. Lydden (and Brands in its day) have some changes of elevation (hills!!) which help with viewing, an old airfield will always be flat.

I think thats entirely deliberate.Looking at where the new track will be in the middle of the Stowe circuit, there are no fixed grandstands nearby, so I expect they will be putting up temporary grandstands to be able to view the circuit (no point otherwise as flat as anything) and you can bet that there will be a nice extra charge for the grandstand seating ontop of the existing massive increase in entry costs.
