Not the first time a VW has failed in that way actually is it?

True, never happens to Ogier though, who is just 2 seconds off with 1 stage to go.

Bloody fantastic win for Paddon, to beat Ogier by such a margin is quite something. Seb said he wasn't pushing as it was too rough, but he looked pretty wide a couple times towards the end.

yes

It looked to me that Seb was overdriving in the last stage, he was very sideways and missing apexes in a few places. Given how hard he pushed in the previous stage which was a lot rougher, I don't really buy his excuse.

Its possible that he might have used up his tyres too much with his big charge on the second-last stage, though he didn't say anything about that.

I'm glad its a public holiday here today after staying up until 4am watching the rally!

The power stage was awesome - proper exciting motor sport telly. So good it wasn't just another Ogier walkover in the power stage. Was cheering Paddon the whole way down, really pleased he won. The Hyundai looks a good car. It almost seems a shame the cars are changing next year - as the VW & i20 look closer matched now. Fiesta looks a bit off the pace frown.

On a Brit note - When his R5 was working, and without a puncture Evans put in some storming times. Often 15-20 seconds faster than the other WRC2 cars, having also beaten Breen on the 2 stages that the car worked on the COI, while using the 'weaker' DMACK tyre. Really hope he gets some time in the WR Car this year - will be good to see if his overall pace has improved and how it compares to Ostberg, who carries on being incredibly consistent.
