There's a homemade thing in Monoposto which is alloy bodied and has a Scottish name like Galbroth when I first saw it I thought it was a piss take until it went out to qualify!

That just looks like a copy of the Nissan GT-R LM, a revolutionary LMP car that never really took off as it had to run with FWD rather than planned part-time 4WD, and the kinetic energy booster system for corner exit power was never completed. Nissan raced the car before it was even vaguely ready, the lack of the kinetic booster and the drag from the drivetrain connected to the rear wheels saw it lapping at GT3 pace and the 3 cars in the race suffered terrible luck with debris damage and reliability. The bosses pulled the plug it was consigned to history. A shame, as it's a wild, completely new idea in many ways.

The original R18 was a cracking looking thing - lovely and clean, with a smart and slightly understated livery.

Though I also liked the MP4-10 - striking though not obviously pretty.


The newer one, whilst obviously quicker - doesn't half look awkward
