True, but to try and hedge their bets they aim for 36h reliability (and test for it) well in advance.

Shame about Toyota's failure - such a simple item. I'm surprised they didn't have an emergency map already loaded with that kind of possibility in mind with the bare essential sensors needed.

This might be worth a read for the actual story behind the late race protest - Ford behaved very badly

With regard the campsites. To be fair to them at Mulsanne, they turned up on Friday morning with a digger. Dug up some of the effected entries into the campsite and dumped a load of hardcore down which will have stopped lots of people getting stuck. A small gesture but it certainly helped. Lots more to be done though!

Looks like the race winning Porsche 919 is having issues at Goodwood (was really struggling to get off the line), after probably less than 30mins of running after the race.

But then they only have to build a car that lasts 24hrs.
It wasn't the race winning car. I spoke with one of the Porsche engineers in the paddock and he explained that this was another body shell that they'd applied some facsimile Le Mans graphics to. The winning chassis has to be used all year as per WEC rules, so the guy told me that it was being prepped for the next round with new bodywork, while all the original Le Mans body (dirt and all) has been removed and is in storage at the Porsche Museum. As soon as the season is over (and assuming the car doesn't get trashed!) they will put back the Le Mans shell, retire the car and preserve it as it finished the race.

Just thought I'd share that as I found it interesting.

Very, just another bit of Goodwood commentary I heard that was wrong then. Although the plonker calling Jason Plato Jenson was one of the highlights of the commentary.

Re the Ford GTs, anyone know how long they are committed for?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a 1 year only (hence no customer racing cars) to allow the massive adverting campaign (false at that) as surely their power would be turned down more next year. It would be really bad for the series as they unfairly p!ssed over all the other manufacturers / teams who are committed long term.
Just to re-visit this... up until 2019 now, acer12.

Regarding Ford's complaint over the Ferrari - both Ford and Porsche had to pit their cars to fix leader lights - so why not Ferrari?
