Would you have the same opinion if it had happened to you? No fault of yours, but the fault of another driver who lost control running on slicks on a clearly wet track, thus finishing your race and costing your team of lot of money for repairs? What then? Genuine question.

Agreed him and the team messed up like shedden did, but they pitted after it was obvious it wasn't going to work, matt on the other hand continued with a car that spent most of its time sideways and cost aiden moffets team a lot of money in a crash that should never have happened.

Yep absolutely. I'd be pissed off but not as pissed off as I get when I have races ended and have to pay for damage to the car from idiots driving into me on purpose or through rampant incompetence in perfect conditions but nobody ever seems to particularly care about that. It happens rather more often too!

Fact is its motorsport and sometimes you're on the receiving end of someone else's accident, C'est la vie. I've spent far more on damage that was no fault of my own compared to stuff that was self inflicted, I've also apologised to other drivers when I've dropped it and smashed someone else's car.

Don't understand the comments that Mat Jackson shouldn't have been on track with slicks. Four of us made the same choice and two of us managed to keep it on the island. Yes it was a gamble but if the rain had held off for another few minutes or we hadn't had the safety car we would have been laughing.

It's an abrasive track, there was no standing water and all you need is to get the tyres working enough to switch them on and you're away. I led the SP3 class in the Zandvoort 12H last year for nearly an hour on slicks after getting them switched on in similar conditions and ended up nearly 3 laps ahead of the rest of the field who stopped for wets. That was in a RWD Ginetta G55 on hard endurance tyres. The only car anywhere near me was Cor Euser in an Evora who was shadowing what I was doing about 20 seconds back. I was running 1 or 2 seconds a lap faster than the cars on wets I only came in for the change when it rained a bit harder.

Yes it was easy to make a mistake, yes you had to be careful and yes it was unfortunate that Mat took someone out, but it's motorsport you have to race your own race.
I was marshalling at Donington on sunday and the last few races of the day it started to rain. I was looking at the track and said I'd use slicks because there was no standing water. The lad I was with thought they'd need wets. It's was just enough to put a bit of grease on the surface. 10 mins after the last race it was pissing down and then they would have needed some form of wets. Trying to guess what the weather will be in 20 minutes time, with a few drops of rain, is really quite hard.

To be fair at Donington you'd never, ever take a chance because as soon as there's a few specks of rain on the track it becomes like a skating ring and you'll never get any heat into a set of slicks. Silverstone and Brands since it was resurfaced are similar.

Croft and Thruxton to name two in particular there's plenty of abrasive grip and you're in with a good shout of getting heat in the tyres even if the track is wet as long as it's not covered in standing water, you'll also smash a set of wets in a lap or two if it starts to dry out.

On a lighter note, hopefully moffets headlights are beyond repair so we dont have to suffer his persistent headlight flashing

Had another cracking day at Croft on Sunday. Great to see the circuit looking stunning and the addition of the 2 giant screens really helped with keep tabs on what was going on.

As always there was great close racing in all the championships with no major crashes during the day tho the safety car drivers had a very busy day. And it wouldn't be Croft without the traditional rain smile

Any ways heres my vid of the days action:
