I guess that's a fair point. I suppose you need the balance between engagement and the detail. It needs to be inclusive, where as a lot of the 'nerdy' stuff can be pretty exclusive.

Anyway OP - you will receive a PM shortly (not for exactly what you are after though I am afraid)

I run a team that looks after cars in Caterham championship and we are one of 4 official Caterham race teams. and also run Ginettas in the MSVR GT cup championship been doing it for quite a few years. Have one running as a full season and a 2nd due to join in in the next month or so.

If interested drop me a message
Ah a "Fly on the Wall" about an "up and coming" multi championship race team.

This week: Will John manage to fix the leaky gasket on James's car before the race, and the Caterham team are in for a long night <cuts to a caterham barrel rolling into Quarry>.

Tons of motor sport now gone missing from UK TV with the demise of Motors TV.
But how will we follow the Scottish Sports and Saloon Championship now?!?!

I wasnt aware Motors TV had gone as the tv has either had tennis or cycling on it for the last few weeks but as you say, thats a huge loss. The breadth of coverage was fantastic frown

Making motorsport fit for TV is tough, With anything bar circuit racing, you are stuck for footage. To cover rallying for example, you have to have invest in lots of cameras on each stage to catch the action otherwise you just get every car passing through a few points of the stage and its soon dull. On board footage is ok but loses the sensation somewhat and i can watch that on youtube should the need arise.

Personally the European Hillclimb championship is the best thing I watch thats not mainstream motorsport. Great range of crs and good footage.

A local TV station (Made in Bristol TV) has done a couple of slots on my clubs MX5 challenge to promote local grassroots motorsports. The programme is called Subsbench.

They used our own footage from gopros etc and did a couple of interviews.

Went down ok and we didn't look too much like dicks.

Andylaurence on here can give you details if you want more.

Would you like to do a really long series on very slow incremental updates to a race car that may or may not one day actually go racing again? hehe

It'd need to be on after the watershed though...

I am racing with the Classic Touring Car Race Club, we have a pretty cool mix up of all sorts of kinds of cool cars old and new in different classes, most recently Motors TV have been showing the odd race, I am sure CTCRC would be interested in some coverage ?

Why don't you come & follow the full Road Race Championship (it's more than just the TT) there are loads of Privateer riders & what they go through you'll get loads of footage if you want to come over to the Ulster GP & have a look to see if it's what you're looking for.

Morning All,

As some of you may or may not know I work as an independent Tv Producer/Director.

I'm being approached reasonably frequently at the moment by distributors looking for Motor Sport related tv shows. If anyone is involved in a racing series I'd be interested in hearing from you.

Thanks
Hello H18,

I've read your post quite a few times and I'm still unsure as to what you are actually asking.

Are you looking for advice on a suitable UK motor racing series that offers the drama, the excitement, the personalities and the (almost unbelievable) incidents that are straight out of a prime-time soap?

Then it must be the BTCC.

Lots of licensing issues with that of course, before you even get to teams willing to participate in your project. But nothing is impossible, and if you have the budget to match your aspirations, then BTCC it is!

Contact me and I'll bring you along to one of the meetings, and I will explain the (almost limitless) possibilities.

Perhaps someone needs to take the PH platform to tv. It might be popular if they get it right. It is/could be very different to other websites/magazines/ TV shows as it is so interactive.

PS. Radical racing championships are already televised but mostly on You tube.Judging by the amount of bodywork left in the bins after a weekend, it can be fun to watch.

Maybe it might be worthwhile setting up some sort of youtube directory so people can see what series are currently available on youtube.

I love the whole concept of youtube but its content is so vast that awareness of what's on it can be lacking.

Very good idea actually. But they seem to have completely lost interest in the PHTV thing:

Interesting to see if the OP replies to you. He's not replied to me and seems to have disappeared from this thread!

But that may be that the PH "PM" system does not work of course.

Hi All,

Just managed to catch up with this thread - for some reason only a handful of post notifications made there way to me and unfortunately I've just found a folder full of emails that I hadn't seen before! Sorry if you've emailed/replied and I've not got back to you. Certainly some excellent suggestions and points made.

Do keep 'em coming and I'll email everyone back now!

Re: PH TV I did email them a while back about possibilities but I've never heard anything back!

How about you put a soap star, say from Emmerdale, into a top line race series, such as the BTCC, and watch them wagon it into the barriers every race?

Oh, hang on...

Speaking of the BTCC, did anyone watch the youtube series that went behind the scenes at Dan Welch's team a couple of years ago? Something like that would be good to see again. Would be interesting to see the difference between a large team at the front of the grid (BMR, Honda) to say AMD Miltek with The Wookie driving.

Hi Folks,

OP Here.

Just to say thanks for the suggestions a while back. A number of you got in touch with some great ideas and I've tried to follow up with all of them. The first offering I have to show you is the teaser for a series behind BTCC team 888 Racing. Have a look at the FB page and do get involved. We have some interesting developments which I should be revealing in a week or two.

http://www.facebook.com/TripleEightTheDocumentary/

I'll let you see the other projects as they happen.
