It's all hotting up now, with the penultimate set of rounds at Silverstone next week.

The championship seems wide open, and as has been the case for the past few years, I wonder if the championship will be decided on the third race at Brands in October.

I understand Plato is increasingly unhappy with Turkington being in the same "team". Has Plato enough (financial) influence within Warren Scott's team to force the issue next season?

I think by hook or by crook the championship will go down to race 3 at Brands, just how it is.

Will be interesting to see it play out; expect the Subarus will be strong again, Hondas do struggle here with the lack of speed but they did alright last year.

Hoping for decent weather, camping Friday and Saturday night smile

What is the access and parking like on Sunday into and out of silverstone as not been before ? How long should I allow from m1 Junction 15a to circuit?

Only speaking for last year as that was my first time, but it was really good. Straight into the circuit on the Sunday, but we were only coming from the Dadford road campsite 2 minutes south laugh Parking was fine, as was leaving after the third touring car race. Bit of traffic on one of the roundabouts (Might have been A43/A5 one?) but kept moving and was clear relatively quickly. Might be a bit slower this year as I think the A43 has one lane closed.

The BTCC crowd is nowhere near the size of F1 or MotoGP, so the infrastructure and surrounding roads seem to cope very well with the relatively light load! smile

As noted above, it's a big circuit and the BTCC crowds don't tax it very much.

It will take about 15 minutes from M1 15A to the circuit, straight through, dual carriageway all the way.

Watch out for a speed camera a few miles after you've left the motorway.

There are roadworks on the A43 at Towcester between the two roundabouts at the moment, can get a bit congested at the moment... worth bearing in mind.

We've always left after race 2 at various circuits (Knockhill, Donington, Brands and Silverstone) to beat the traffic and just catch what actually happened on TV after Sky+'ing the coverage.

What's the car park like for getting out after race 3 there?

Heading down from Scotland tomorrow, would like to see Turkington or Plato win the title this year, suspect Turks has more chance TBH, failing that, as a Scot, I guess Flash would be a worthy winner. However agree it won't be settled till race three at Brandsbiggrin

The whole family are going on Sunday, so thanks for the getting there tips.
Any suggestions where to sit and view from as I haven't been before?

I see from the website the big screen will be at Luffield. Last year at Thruxton having the big screen was a lifesaver for the kids to see everything.

Hoping to see Collard do well, just love his attacking style.

The grandstands that are open are Luffield and Woodcote (good views over the complex and down the straight), Copse should be good for Turn 1 but if there isn't a screen you may find yourself wondering what's going on around the back - but with this years BTCC Grid, I'd fully expect to see multiple drivers coming into bother through there. Silverstone Six is open for the hairpin - I've never sat here but if there is a screen, I'm going to make the walk across. You can also walk around the whole track and find some other good vantage points too on the raised banking.

There is a cover on Luffield/Woodcote and a TV screen usually parked up and visible - so I tend to end up there for most of the events I've been too this year.

Looking forward to it, although my weather report was wrong and it has rained constantly this morning since 7:30am here just 6 miles south of the circuit.

To answer the question about the car park - It should flow out and most traffic will be headed to the A43. No single track roads here like Thruxton/Croft/Oulton Park and I'd imagine we won't be seeing 1 hour 30 minute queues to get out the car park at the end of Race 3.

very tempted to head up Sunday, as its not a million miles from me!

However I dont think you can beat the final rounds at Brands, last year (regardless of the weather) was absolutely insane

I'm heading down tomorrow. Hoping to get there before nine so that I can do the pit walkabout (will say hello to Wookie as well)
I've only ever been to Thruxton to see the BTCC so imagine Silverston will seem spacious compared to there! Will be good to see the MG's win a race or two.

Bad quali for both bmw and Subaru Honda bottom of the top 10 and a really mixed top 10 first race should be interesting.

Took me ages to find qualifying result, stupid website.

Quite a mixed up top ten as said.

1 second covering about 22 cars.

Abbott and Neal leaning on each other through Copse prediction.

Ordered my ticket on Monday morning, totally forgot until this morning and their lines are open Mon-Fri only. Looks like I'll be arguing with them at the ticket office in the morning.

Just watching on itv4. Any particular reason why the BTCC don't use the Wing pits and the southern short circuit?
