I still think that both Spa and Monza ooze history and atmosphere - which is lacking in so many F1 venues today.

Monza - what's a few chicanes? It's essentially what it always was - with some chicanes added. I do however feel you are wrong about Suzuka "for sure" and Monza is a long way from the old circuit too!Look at the Austrian track - butchered compared to the old one.
Look at Hockenheim - also butchered.
As for the Nordschleife - what F1 GP will the OP attend there?

Spa. Not too far to drive cheap with a general admission ticket you can walk most of the track during the weekend and your not viewing through a fence from most GA viewing spots. Your also camping within walking distance of the track so no buses or parking each morning.
Don't know when you were last at Spa, but I was there a couple of weeks back for the Classic 6 hours weekend (my first visit). I walked the whole circuit with friends and for most of the circuit you have to look through a green wire fence (it looks quite new). There are a lot of places where you can get higher up and see over the fence, but you're further away from the track.They have cut viewing/camera holes in the fence, but whoever did it must have been pretty short as they were on the low side.
I was visiting with a group of friends who have been regularly in the past, and they were surprised at the changes - apparently you used to be able to get a lot closer and were fewer fences/barriers.
I would certainly agree that Spa is a fantastic circuit to watch racing.
I've been to a few races but the only ones I've enjoyed was Monaco and Singapore. The atmosphere seems better at the street circuits. After the race instead of getting into a huge traffic jam leaving the circuit after what is already a long day, you can go to a restaurant and a few bars. In Singapore there was a lot of entertainment on too. I also went when it was still V8 engines which just added to the whole experience with a noise echoing off the buildings for miles.
I've not been to Monaco GP (yet), but I bet that's special.
The ones I've been to:
Abu Dhabi: Facilities are amazing & the day/night thing is great
Monza: Short race, but the ambience & up close & personal feel was magic
Malaysia: Great but hot!
Nurbergring: Great, but not the top
Canada: Fab setting, walking distance (if you are a brit!) to a great city. (Especially Sharkey's)
Valencia: Great weather, walking distance to great city, fab location...but don't hold your breath. They won't run that one again!
Britain: Miserable when wet & cold!
