Looks pretty minor but nice recovery work by the M-Sport guys nonetheless biggrin

Channel 5 (including HD) are listing a WRC highlights programme at 19:00 on Monday, so same as last year.

Good guys red bull.
This is excellent. They made a great job of the XC and DH mountainbike world championships also. Looking forward to this.

There will be live free coverage of each event, but only a limited number of stages.

He's come a long way, I competed against him on one of the first UK events he ever did (may actually have been the first) and I wasn't hugely impressed.

All this and RGT is back too! That slipped under my radar until checking the start list today but I'm liking the old-school look of the 124 Abarths! Hopefully RB-TV might give it a bit of coverage this time around...

I remember him doing a SV in N.Wales. Got beaten by 1.0 Micras! To be fair he did have a broken clutch but couldn't retire as he needed a finish for his licence upgrade.

Enjoyable time at shakedown today, the new cars are definitely louder and you can really see the extra power as they launch out of the corners! The Hyundai's and Toyota's sound incredible!

Hanninen hit a wall in front of us while one of the R5 ds3s spun and had to be pushed back on.

Loads of police and marshals on such a short stage, they really weren't taking any crap either!

Tomorrow we recce a couple stages, before heading to stage 2 biggrin

It's a poor substitute for being there, but I've been watching some of the numerous YT videos of today's shakedowwn, the cars look and sound epic :

should be an awesome event and hopefully a really competitive year. smile

Your predictions please gentlemen ;

1st Business as usual. Ogier (unless MSport's reliability lets him down)
2nd Meeke (unless he crashes, which seems quite likely, may only be a silly indiscretion, but it will break something or put him off the road for a couple of minutes and out of contention)
3rd Neuville
4th Paddon ? or Sordo ?
5th Latvala (lots of reliability issues along with a few offs)

Paddon has only done Monte once and inconsistent slippery tarmac is his his least favourite surface, so if he places well this weekend it will probably be down to playing it safe and staying on the road while others fall off.

My pick of top 3 contenders for Monte are Ogier, Meeke and Neuville as well (in any order).

Haven't had a chance to watch shakedown vids yet but you can't read much into it with drivers playing tyre strategy games etc anyway.

I've barely bothered WRC for quite a few years now, poor coverage, and slightly uninteresting cars being 2 of the main reasons but this year has the potential to be epic.

Busting for this season to kick off!! looking at the vids of shakedown, there isn't much difference over the cars of last season tbh. but full attack will certainly tell and not much can be taken from shakedown.

Meeke apparently was running soft/slick compounds during his runs so as not to use up all his snow allocation.

The cars seem to move about more than testing vids, probably down to the snowy conditions, again time will tell.

and I also wonder how long before the front lip gets some sort of revision, one theme i noticed with all the cars going through one corner was the icy slush being kicked up by the lip straight onto the windscreen. that'll be a nightmare in Sweden and on really dusty events! May not be such a problem if as we all suspect it isn't going to stay attached to the car for longer than one flat out competitive stage!

Looking forward to as much live stuff as I can fit in, I've got a free month on WRC+ until the end of the month, and only recently realised I had free 6months BTsport app subscription with my new mobile contract. should cover me for Monte and Sweden.
I wonder also how the free red bull stuff is going to hit WRC+, as i still have no desire to pay for a full year as the free subscriptions I used last year showed me it still wasn't worth full price as still not enough live content.
