Unfortunately from the in car I think you can see where the spectator was sitting as the car starts to slide, after the roll, from the in car shot a small fire is visible - which I think is a gas stove and bag. I bloody hope not, I've been watching it on delay, and you could see the spectator on the floor straight away - I do hope he fell down the bank, rather than being hit.

I hope the injured party/ies are ok, but I also hope (selfishly for the sport) that all is well. Can you imagine the headlines in the mainstream press tomorrow if a spectator has been seriously injured ? As I said in last years thread, I think there's every chance there'll be fatality this year, that maybe a spectator, or a member of one of the crews. At their peak (with a 38 or 40mm restrictor), the Group A cars produced the same horsepower as the 2017 cars but with less torque. The modern WRC cars have better brakes, tyres, suspension etc etc, yet the footage shown prior to tonight's live stage showed the crews changing wheels/tyres in Monte Carlo. The tyres are ridiculously narrow for the speeds the new cars are capable of. And whilst this may artificially reduce speeds, anyone who's seen a modern WRC car being driven by the top ten drivers, will know the level of commitment leaves NOTHING in reserve.
I've always maintained that the Group B cars were rarely (if ever ?) driven to their ultimate limits, such was their excess horsepower and hopeless chassis dynamics, they may have been driven very quickly indeed, but I'm not convinced they were driven at 100% like today's WRC cars.
I desperately hope I'm wrong, and that this year's WRC proceeds apace with zero spectator or crew injuries at every event. Fingers (and everything else) crossed.

can we not have the pics posted here? especially the first one. I've come off social media for the night as my feeds are full of people sharing vids/pics of it, and having discussions of whats happened/how injured they could possibly be etc etc. and at the moment we know nothing for sure of their condition except rumours.

It's a fear I've had since they announced the upping of power and all that, then noticed the blogs/social media channels that usually don't care about rallying picking it all up and hailing it as the return of the Grp B monsters. bringing with it a new generation of spectators who perhaps only see bits on the telly or attend circuit events or single venue lower down stuff stomping into a stage and going where they please.
I'm all for new spectators and more coverage, but not at the risks involved. Even some of the youtube stuff from seasoned regulars lately has me gasping at their stuff. It seems to be they want to get the best footage of the mot dramatic stuff of recent times and forget the risks associated with it!
I do realise I'm basing this at new speccys, but the old school "I've been watching rallies for 40 years" brigade are just as bad at their positioning, but they should know better! I must also remember to take my Marshal and Health and Safety officers brain out every now and then, as difficult as it sometimes is

it's being reported that the guy fell down the banking after Hayden hit it, and having seen a video it would appear to confirm that. the pics being shared looking like a pair of legs in the air as he hits the bank seem to be trees/rocks that manage to pass as limbs! this I think true seeing how spectators walk past the impact zone.
Still for the guy seen in the ditch at the start of the corner, that guy is a f
