I have a set of Marlboro branded stickers from I believe the 1976 F1 season minus US East at Long Beach however the Canadian Grand Prix sticker is for St.Jovite and not Mosport - Has anyone any ideas why this might be the case?

Sure it's for 76 not 70?!

I forgot to add that the Marlboro stickers feature a McLaren so it has to be 1974 onwards

The set also includes Brands Hatch so that makes it an even Year (discounting Race of Champions) plus Nurburgring and Fuji Speedway

Long Beach is of course US West but I guess it's East of somewhere ;-)

Looking up some websites, it seems St Jovite was only used twice for the Canadian GP - 1968 and 1970. It had been intended that it would alternate with Mosport with St Jovite hosting in the even years and Mosport in the odd years.

The plan was abandoned for 1972 because it was considered that the track surface was not good enough due to harsh winters.

Maybe it had been anticipated that the 1974 or 1976 race would return to St Jovite but it never happened?

Sometimes things have to go to print before a schedule is finalised and all the details are known - and sometimes, because of this, they end up being wrong.

I had an old t-shirt listing those countries that qualified for the 1990 World Cup. Denmark is on the list of teams taking part, but they actually failed to qualify in their last qualification match.

That would be the simplest explanation

I figured that might be the case but there's always someone more wise on here so thought I'd put it out to the collective anyway.

It's been quite an interesting process determining which year the stickers come from and in the process discovering tracks I'd never heard of like Nivelles-Baulers (Belgium) and Montjuic (Spain)

Email Joe Saward. He likes these kinds of facts and is an expert on past tracks... he may be interested.

Montjuich was like a very fast Monaco. After Rolf Stommellen's big crash there in 1975 it was not used again.

I find him smug, condescending and generally a bit of a dick.

However, I accept he may not like me either and other opinions are available hehe
