Thanks for posting - sound of that engine! Brings back memories of sitting at Knockhill with cars coming straight at you whilst sat at Jim Clark.

It’s an awesome engine sound.
Which corner is Jim Clark? I’ve only seen touring cars once at knock hill (450 mile drive ) and Tarquini rolled his Alfa right where I was standing was a violent crash ….

Tarquini’s crash was at MacIntyres, turn 3. That was before Duffus & Leslie’s were re-profiled, they used to be a lot closer to right angles turns and steeper down the hill.

Clark’s is turn 7, the first corner you arrive at after going through the chicane.

Can't see an issue with the engines to be honest. You either use the standard TOCA engine or an engine from the manufacturer. Forcing them to use the engine that came with the actual model being used would create issues as not all the cars actually come with a 2 litre engine.
If they don’t come with the correct engine, use a car/manufacturer that provides one

It’s a complete farce the series runs engines that have nothing to do with the shell of the manufacturer it sits in

It’s supposed to be a touring car series, not Modified or Special saloons

So the "solution" is to make teams build new cars at huge expense purely to fit an engine rule that does nothing for the sport as far as I can see?

What is the issue with the way things are now? Are people really not watching because some of the cars use a standard engine or an engine from a different model?

The solution is to revert the rules to how they used to be

If you have a Ford, it needs to be running a Ford Engine, or a BMW etc

It’s not complicated, and how touring cars should be

In related news, it has been 5 years since Ford last sold a two-litre petrol (non-hybrid) engine in the UK.

So you're saying the TOCA engine should be abandoned then? If you don't use that engine (and most don't) then you already have to run an engine from the manufacturer so Ford in a Ford and BMW in a BMW etc. The TOCA engine is Ford based these days.

Still don't get what a change like that would do for the sport other than put costs up.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that if you see a Honda Civic racing or a BMW it has a Honda or a BMW engine in it. Otherwise like I said they might as well grab random bodyshell A and stick random engine B in it. If I'm a BMW fan I'd like to see a BMW racing, not a BMW bodyshell with a generic Toca engine in. Doesn't have to be 2 litres, in fact I'm surprised it still is, but anyway.

How fun would a fully reversed grid be with bonus points for most overtakes?! Halstead would be on pole nearly every race 3...

You would end up with teams choreographing overtakes between team mates to increment the number of overtakes to try and get more points.

Not sure you'd get many of them to play nice enough for that

If team mates were running 1,2 didn't they sometimes swap position to get the extra point for leading the race? I appreciate coming through the pack it might not be as easy smile

By the way, are you in a Porsche again this season?

That’s the one team where i would expect them to play nice to be fair hehe

I am indeed! First test was promising but I’m still too fat at the moment and not sure I’ll have enough time outside of work to put a dent in it! I’m just in it to enjoy it now though, so as long as I’ve got a chance at some class pots im happy

Which series do you compete in?

Edit: Porsche Carrera Cup - matters have become serious and expensive.

Good luck getting funding from the manufacturers nowadays.

If the race car is not promoting the product, it doesn't need to resemble the product.

Does the rule one how old the car should be before it's not allowed to race in the series still exist? If it does how is that damn Astra still on the grid when the FK2 shape Civic's aren't eligible?
