Thank you so much for this link ( "Just met Jason Plato") one of the best / funniest threads Ive seen in a considerable while ( I.e more than 20 minutes) .
While I'm here anyone whos been in Btcc since late 80's up to present day a doff of the cap and a well done and
thank- you for all the entertainment from myself and Im sure my Stepdad who recently passed away would say the same thing he loved the Btcc. The fact J.P shook that chap's hand must mean something surely.
Glad to have chance to get this done as I hate waiting in cold/ wouldnt like to stand outside cleaners as I hate being bothered for change ...
Plus being mistaken for a plain clothes traffic Warden.😊

I'm guessing Bobby Thompson and WSR couldn't get to a deal, that's a shame it would have been interesting to see how he would have gone in that car. I must say other than one or two exceptions, mainly one, the grid this year is looking really strong. Shame no Honda's and a bit of a lack of car variety and liveries, but should be a good one.

If the Toyota is on a par with the Fords, Watson and Huff could be title contenders as well.

The more events that go by presumably the cheaper the WSR seat will get so it might get to the point where the two budgets match. smile

Getting excited for the big WSR reveal... this wasn't on my radar.
Feel sorry for Bobby... maybe they can sort something out in the near future.

New quali format... big thumbs up from me.
More exciting & really mixes up the grid...especially with the indifferent conditions.
It really brings teams strategies into play as well.

Surprising that Napa made the same mistake twice, with Cammish and then Rowbottom being caught on the wrong tyre without enough time to switch in both groups.

It was a shame not to get to see what Huff was capable of in qualy. Not clear whether that was also a team mistake by Speedworks, not having the car out in the pit lane when they should've, or if they ran out of time repairing the damage from FP2.

I agree, teams need to really be on their toes, don't think the weather helped in first session though. I thought it was much more interesting to watch than previous format

How do the knockouts of thr first round get gridded? If it's just fastest latime then isn't that a bit unfair if one half's in the wet and the other in the dry?

That's just the unpredictably factor with their FP2 times... element of luck I suppose.
The weather will undoubtedly play a bigger part in quali now.

NB: It seemed a bit strange that the recovery truck with Nick Halsteads car seemed to delay the proceedings during the red flag caused by Sam Osbornes off.
Surely it should have gone around to the back of the garages.

Got to say I’m not a big fan of this new qualifying format.

Not helped by the fact that half the qualifying time is spent driving round warming up tyres (although not a new thing in btcc).

Why don’t they just have tyre warmers. In the grand scheme of cost they can’t be that expensive. Prevents all the boredom of watching cars do laps just to dive in the pits to change tyres.

Wasn’t so much of an issue under the old format as they would do multiple laps on the same tyre.

Under this new format with 10 minutes sessions there spending at least half of that messing about warming tyres.

I suppose it puts more pressure on them with fewer attempts but as a spectator it’s pretty crap, I’ve always thought they should have used tyre warmers though. I want to watch them race or qualify on max attack. I don’t want to watch them drive around warming tyres up. (just my opinion)

Imagine the scenario if there was nearly thirty cars to contend with... that would have been one hectic pit lane.

NB; 'TINGRAM' to 'THINGRAM'... due to his weight loss.

Looking very wet at Donnington. I'd be surprised if the programme starts on time. No racing as yet today

There’ll be a 10m practice session at Midday, I presume to asses the track & try to clear any standing water
