The only class I really don't enjoy at the big events is Pro Stock, never have. Much rather they put Street Eliminator or Outlaw Anglia in there instead. Nothing against the actual Pro Stock teams, but they're just so, well, dull. The other annoyance is nitro funnycar. As much as I love them, I can't recall the last time I saw a full on pass, let along a clean side by side run without something going wrong. There's only so many up in smoke launches and blower explosions you can sit through. I admire the determination of the teams, but I can't help but think they're flogging a dead horse. Hope there are no FC purists on here...

Unfortunately I don't think I can make the finals this year, but given the speeds being run in Norway at the last round, assuming the weather is ok and the track is good, I think we could see some amazing numbers.

Weather gods permitting I will be there, oil downs, delays and holdups notwithstanding. Although I am a doorslammer fanatic, the sheer spectacle of the pro classes, fuellers in particular, cannot be denied.

Spuff's 5.39 in testing today bodes well for a return to form...

I run a snowmobile on the tarmac - 3 cylinder 1000cc 2 stroke in full NHRA Open Fuel spec. It runs C14 fuel and lots of nitrous to push out 450bhp. I have just got back fron the NitrOlympix at Hockenheim where I ran 8.800 secs - a new European record. On Saturday night I raced against a Super Gas car that crashed alongside me on a slightly damp track - a real adreneline trip! My site is at www.mad-max-racing.com and will be updated again this week.

hehe Thats Bonkers!

I was in the queue waiting to run, heard the launch and thought he had clicked it off, it was only when Pam (SWMBO) who had been watching from the stands came to find me and told me to be prepared for a long wait that I found out he had gone into the wall, thankfully without injury. Apparently tyre shake off the line resulted in the loss of a rear wheel.
Having had a quick look over the car it didn't look too bad considering, but whether it will be repaired for this weekend remains to be seen.

Have a look at Eurodragster.com for a picture of the failed wheel..

we have a few in the viper forum who run a few times a year RWYB, pushing mid 10's and looking to improve which is quite quick for a road car

Indeed. One of the most mental things I have ever seen. Hats off to you for having the balls to get on that thing.

Couldn't get to Santa Pod, bu some good numbers run, from looking at Eurodragster. Pro Mods into the 6.1s, Malmgren setting both ends of the Pro Stock record and Urs Erbacher getting both ends of the Top Fuel record with 4.74 and 312mph, backed up by a "too fast" 318mph. Hats off to Andy Frost too, running 7.80 in (I think) full street trim. Bonkers.

Just found this link to the incident on Sunday cry :www.rushdentoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=661&ArticleID=1760619

The report seems a little incorrect as there was no crash, but there was a cloud of smoke as he went over the line. I assume the engine or blower let go?

My thoughts go out to the family of the spectator. I am very surprised that there is no such message on either the Santa Pod or Eurodragster website.

I was not there but I thought the blower has restraints to stop such a thing happening.
There is debris fencing on the pitside before and beyond the gantry but not on the spectator side - maybe this will be added in future.
This is a terrible thing to happen, OK "motor racing is dangerous" but as a spectator you do not expect to be exposed to such risks.
Also at times you think that, well what if this or that happened.........I do recall many years ago having a slick and wheel pass right over my head and into the car park.

Blowers have restraints and ballistic nylon "overcoats" to stop shrapnel. Until we know for certain what the problem was, theres no point in guessing. Still makes me feel sick to think about it.
