TBH, it just looked and sounded like a totally sh4gged Capri thrashing around, I imagine that's all it is, but it looked more of a destruction derby car that had lost the oval as opposed to an HGTCC car !!!

its a group c 3.1 litre v6.

possibly raced by gerry marshal (from the previous owner), its got some very tidy parts in the engine - the engine builder was a famous guy (forgot his name)

the reason it smokes so much was the dip stick was too short, so it had too much oil in it! (its all baffled and what not and the dip tube has been moved.

it hadnt been used for about 7 years, but the owners got it out for the hoff to have a go in

one in similar spec sold for 12 grand a few weeks ago on abay aparently!

Holy cr4p, that's about £11,950 more than I would pay for one rofl

There is a rather battered Capri for sale up the road, needs a LOT of tlc by just looking at it and I was shocked at the £425 asking price he had on it !!

Glad to see/hear the Heritage cars are what are grabbing people's attention, shame Dad isn't out with Boysie Thurtle in the V8 Aston or sharing a Camaro/Mustany with people like Skid Scarborough, Jess Yates, Pete Hall and Any Rouse, that would have been good!!

As for the Capri , it could be a car that Dad raced, but would need more details to confirm or not, as he only really raced a 3 litre Capri in '78 & maybe '80, after '80 it was a 2.8i, which he dveloped for Ford, whilst everyone else continued with the 3 litre Capris.

Hopefully I'll be out there in my Droop Snoot Firenza next year, but unless it's wet I think the V8s are going to be too far in front, but we'll give it a go!!

gregor, good to hear from you!

the owner of the capri makes no bones about the history of the car, he bought it because he had a soft spot for cars of that era. i think the connection to your dad came from the previous owner and the guy who did the engines. - he bought it a good few years ago when it was just a old race car and parked it in his garage - i think he said it may have been used for a spot of sprint/hill climbing

a droop snoot would be great to see, though it would be another class d car for us to be against in the mini! - curses!

hope to see you out there!

Is there a calendar of HGTCC races anywhere? I'd like to come to a few races next year if I can

Cheers L100NYY. I'll try to make it to some races next season. It'll be a tough decision which car to come in though - if I bring the Mustang it might get desperate to join in

Well hopefully i'll get to see you again next year at Oulton, and i'll be somewhere other than watertower, nice spot, but you dont get to see much more than the cars coming over clay hill and round druids.

fingers crossed its a GT/F3 meet rather than a BTCC.

Sounds like you should bring the Mustang then!
