Amazing season, amazing final race.
Rossi appeared to fall off for no reason.
As much as I'm a Rossi fan, it'll be great for the series to have a US world Champ.
We were guests at Donington to the Ducati team, so very happy they finished with such a flourish.
Fabulous stuff. Long wait till next season though.

I didn't really mind who won the title, but it's good for the sport to see the Rossi stranglehold broken. I don't think Hayden was the best rider, by any stretch, but he kept it together, was consistent and didn't get injured. Rossi, Capirossi and Melandri could/should have won it, but problems and injuries held them back - Capirossi was leading the Championship for a long time early on and Melandri was on a roll before that huge crash.

For me, the highlight of the day (apart from Suzi Perry) was Bayliss' performance. What a star. Comes in as as supersub, no testing, 2nd on the grid (ahead of Loris), leads into the first corner and buggers off into the distance. After three years in MotoGP where nothing went right, he turned up without any pressure and showed just how good he really is.

Agreed. Bayliss was absolutely superb, did nothing wrong. I bet Ducati are chuffed to bits...that they signed Casey Stoner for '07...rolleyes

Still, the parts dept will be busy!

To me it looked like Rossi opened gas to early and back spun out. Bike was probably leant to far over to grip and then high side!

Front end washout ...it looked to me....obviously had small tyre issues...although riding at Moto GP `pace` turns it into a big problem....the pace is super hot these days....

Here are some pictures from my weekend at Valencia.

The weather was hot, the food was good, the racing was a bit of a letdown although Bayliss was incredible and Valencia town itself is well worth a visit.

Oh, and make sure you get a grandstand seat, the 36€ tickets are, I found, 36€ for a reason. You need to get a grandstand seat as we were on the hill outside the main arena. However they do sell out pretty sharpish, which I also found out...

Big crouds

Grandstand seat might have been a bit better...

Better than Donington!

rolleyes Yeh right, a multiple 125 winner and highest finisher on a KTM in 04.
A 5 times 250 winner who finished second in the 05 championship to Pedrosa and the only Aprilia rider out of all the Honda's at the top of the field.

And a Moto GP podium man in his first season on the bike, and a satelite team at that.

And still only 21 years old.

I wish I could be that useless

If you think that fool is any good you ar deluded - show the fooll a bend and he will fall off trying to go round it or more likley take somee else out going round it - a Complete tool - Ducati could have do alot better - Bayliss would murder him as will capirossi - he bit be ahead occasionally but will crash b4 the end of the racer.

Must have taken years to train you brain to answer like that

So, from your obviously experienced view point do you get to an opinion like that? maybe you beat Stoner using an XBOX?

So he is that bad that he falls off at every corner, thats why in his maiden year in top level gp racing he finished 8th in championship with 118 points, including 1 pole & 1 podium. In 10 races that he finished he finished no lower than 8th! As he was in a solo satalite team he had no advantage of using anybodies set-up or benchmarks!

The only 2 riders I can think of who were thinking riders were, Lawsom and Rainey.

If we're just restricting it to the modern era, of real (i.e. 2 stroke machines), I think Fast Freddie deserves a mention - his modern feat of 250 & 500 titles in 1985 will not be matched again.

Agreed.Casey/Pedrobot/Marco are the next generation.Nicky, Im afraid, will only ever be a chaamp in the same way as Schwantz was, and that is more by default.Im not decrying what he's achieved, but he aint beat Vale in a head to head series.Cant see Sete getting a decent ride anymore.I think Vale ed his head big time.I do think next season will be Vales last tho, despite whats quoted in this weeks rag.

I rememeber watching Stoner racing in bsb 125 PURE CLASS!!

To say Stoner is a waste of space is a statement coming from someone who obviously doesnt know what riding on the limit is.

Watch the boy he will come good

Rossi crashed the 500 quite a few times in his first year in the premier class now look at him.

Stoner nearly won a national 125gp race on a production 125 (aprilia rs125) waste of space I think not

Back these young boys not the old timers in world production bikes!!!!

How do they do it - so Rossi IS still the man - bearing that in mind - lets hope Yam get there finger out (and the rest) - good to see Hopper right up there after the smash.

Not on Saturday he wasn'thehehehe

Pretty sure that getting second and really pushing Stoner to the last lap was a measure of the man when riding vastly underpowered machinery.
