Come on them, what do you bunch reckon think will be news worthy this year?

My madcap thoughts - Kovalainen will just pip Hamilton to become champ after a stunning year for rookies. Kimi will disappoint as he will come 5th behind Alonso and Button. Best of the rest will be Ralf.. Fisi will have more bad luck.

Dead losses will be the over-rated Webber and DC. Davidson will get decent points for no hopers Super Aguri.

so

1 Heikki
2 Lewis H
3 Fernando A
4 Jenson B
5 Kimi R
6 Ralf S

Anyone got a more sensible prediction?

yes Followed by Rubens shuffling on to a back-marker team or off the grid altogether, to be replaced by Ant at Honda. Aguri have only got a 1-year contract, remember.

I predict a strong and more consistent year for Williams, with a podium a possibility. I wouldn't rule out a maiden win for Red Bull either.

I would also predict this to be the final year for Toyota if current form continues. They will then continue as an engine supplier, and try to make Aguri jump ship for the marketing potential.

no real changes, dont think raikonnen will gel at ferrari quite as quickly or smoothly as alonso at mclaren and thuogh i think kimi is probably the quicker driver outright, i think Alonso's ability to finsh on the podium consistently will be decisive. dopnt think massa will finish that low down though, i cant see that ferrari being a total failure in 2007 and i think he showed some talent in 2006 so i have given him 3rd spot.

Paolow - Pablo

Raikkonnen - Alonso
Alonso - Raikonnen
Button - Massa
Kovalienen - Button
Hamilton - Hamilton
Fisichella - Fisichella
Massa - Kovalienen
Barrichello - Coulthard
Schumacher - Webber
Coulthard - Barrichello
Rosberg - Schumacher
Webber - Rosberg
Trulli - Trulli
Kubica - Davidson
Wurz - Wurz
Davidson - Kubica
Sato - Sato
Albers - Albers
Sutil - Sutil

Webber I agree with, but DC could well finish in the top 6, as he and Newey have historically been a great car development partnership.

So...

Alonso
Raikkonen
Button
Hamilton
Fisichella
Coulthard
Kovalainen
Barrichello
etc...

I think the winner at the end of the year will be the same as in the last few years.

1) Bernie Ecclestone
2) Max Mosley
3) TV broadcasters(where not FOM)

And the loosers will be the same as in prvious years too.

1) The paying fans
2) The teams(except Ferrari, Renault and Mclaren)

My prediction is that, Rosberg will become the talked about star of the season, generally putting a difficult Willliams chassis in the points and embarrassing Schuey Jnr and Trulli. DC will be forced into retirement as he will be blown away in qualifying by Webber, even though DC will generally be the better racer of the two.

I think it will be a more open season with wins shared out between raikkers 4, Alonso 4, button 2, Massa 2, Kovalainen 1, Fisico 1 any races left over will be shared out between the Toyota drivers. Hamilton will qualify 10th for his first GP and be running in a strong fifth when the car breaks, he will score 29 points, have two poles and three podiums. He won’t show any flashes of brilliance until he gets to Europe.

Fisico will loose his drive at the end of the season and be replaced by Piquet jnr,

Button will have a very consistent season that will keep him in the hunt for the title until the last round. Barrichello may get a lucky win, and a few podiums.

Super Aguri will be the surprise package scoring points, but Ant won’t be any better than Sato,

So drivers top 10

1) Raikkonen 78
2) Alonso 78
3) Button 75
4) Massa 60
5) Fisichella, 56
6) Kovaiainen, 49
7) Barrichello 30
8) Hamilton, 29
9) Webber, 18
10) Rosberg, 17

All I need now is a quick trip down the bookies

I agree mostly with this effort and therefore is the most sensible post on this thread

I would make a few changes:

1. Alonso
2. Massa
3. Raikkonen
4. Button
5. Fisichella
6. Kovalainen
7. Hamilton
8. Coulthard
9. Barrichello
10. Rosberg

Overall predictions:
Will be a much more mixed and closer season this year, with old cobwebs being blown away and some significant driver/team changes settling into place. Plenty of new talent around too which will be interesting to watch - I can't see Hamilton being that impressive out of the box but hope he gets some decent results.

DC should have a good car so will be more consistent in the lower points and maybe a few podiums, Button will again fail to live up to the hype around him and his ego. Ferrari will certainly feel the pinch of losing the dream team and this will allow Mclaren to bounce back to better form (what else can they do?..). Williams may prove a surprise improvement (I hope), and Red Bull will cement their place in the upper ranks of the secondary teams.

I also think faux Murray aka James Allen will be dispatched and replaced with someone who knows when to stop talking. And Brundle is given a knighthood for his services to sensible and experienced opinion.

I also predict Bernie will make a profit and Mosley will be shown the door...

Isn't it nice to have a genuinely unpredictable championship. Let's hope this proves to be the case when they start racing. There might be hope for this nice little series after all.

My tip, boringly, is Kimi. I think it's time for him to come of age, and I would wager he has nowhere to go (as a title contender) if he can't do the job with Ferrari. Alonso will push him all the way but won't come on strong for a few races, probably not until they're in Europe. Massa just could be the revelation of 2007 though, and if he can maintain Brazil racecraft, he might just be unstoppable by either of the two main contenders.

Hamilton will, I hope, impress with a few moments of raw talent to show what's to come, but will do very well to be higher than fifth. Kovalainen the same, but I think he may shade Hamilton due to F1 experience.

Button could go either way, dependent on the car and himself. I'm cynical though. Top five.

Not too worried about the rest to be honest.

First point Heikki did beat Schumacher in the same car in the race of champions in 2004 and they went on to win the hole thing!!

He certainly can drive and would quiet often put in the fastest lap times during testing.

Could be very interesting I agree.

Second point Alonso made the Renault's look good even when they were far from good and the second drivers were well of the pace!!

Nobody is talking about Kubica.

He could be interesting.
