We had discussions with SRO about entering our Sagaris V8 this year, but sadly the regulations do not allow us to enter a car that, whilst TVR through and through, is an evolution of a one make series car and a current road car. Its a great shame, but there you go.

I thought you were involved in Britcar? Are things not happy in James' world or are you just looking to stretch a bit farther afield?

I'm sure everyone is happy in James' camp, but since his grids are full, we aren't in said camp.

We do have an entry to Dutch Super Car for the car later in the year.

I would like to do a year in BGT with the car and SRO would like to see it out. The problem we have is it is an evolution of a one make series car, rather than an evolution of the road car. Although the construction method is identical to the road car and all components are TVR, it is difficult to present a cast iron case that the car fits one of the two current classes. It would therefore be difficult to defend the inevitable protest from other teams. We are not interested in racing with the Speed 6.

There currently 4 AJP engined Sagaris car racing, mine will be the 5th. I understand there are 2 Chevy engined cars currently built with a third in construction. So that would be a total of 8 cars. (Is that more than the Mosler, Ginetta etc?) If we could run a one make series for the car for a year then we could probably get the car into BGT thereafter. That seems to be our only option.

yes i could quickly see a prosport scenario happening again with the sagaris, even though the prosport wasn't hugely quicker than the 911 GT3 cup cars, just looking at some comparative laps though,

castle combe 06
911 Gt3 cup pole time
1:11.739
tuscan/sagaris pole time
1:08.980

i think you may be out before you were in which would be a shame, would be great to see the sagaris's flying

That lap time is actually slower than the Tuscan lap record, which was on softer tyres. The 997 Porsches now lap quicker than the Tuscans (albeit the Sag is also quicker than the Tuscan), so I suspect there is little difference between them and the racinbg could be very good. There seem to be Porsche GT3s and Porsche GT3s if you know what I mean.

If running in BGT we would have ballast added to true things up, but the parentage of the car is the issue, rather than complying with the technical regs or outright performance

i suppose you'd have a situation very similar to the BMW M3 GTR from a few years ago, the chassis and bodywork very much M3 (just as the tuscan chassis i assume is similar to tuscan, sag chassis now) however there was never a V8 M3 just straight six (just like the sag situation), i guess its a difficult one, if you are let in and trail round at the back there would be no problem, but the minute you show some pace there would be issues with the other teams.

how does the ginetta get round running a jag V6?? there are no road versions of that?

Well the irony is that all current TVR road car chassis were derived from the Tuscan Challenge design.

As for the engine - we won't use the Speed Six, for reasons I don't need to explain!

I have no idea how the Ginetta meets the rules - have you ever seen one on the road? But they've got the car in and good luck to them.

I do know SRO were keen to have the TVR in if there was a way of ensuring it was demonstrably eligible. With GT3 seemingly taking over the idea may be dead in the water for the future anyway, as there is no way the car will ever be GT3 eligible

My interpretation of the GTC rules is that there must be 10 examples of the road or race car. Presumably there are 10 Ginetta race cars (Ginetta junior or whatever it is called), albeit with different engines.

We'll soon have 8 cars, another two and we could be there. We'd then have to restrict power or ballast the car. But by then GTC may be dead anyway.

Sorry it appears that way. I'dve loved to see the Sag running in the BGT, however can it not run in the tuscan series or is now defunct aswell?

It's my understanding T cars are no longer running, Caterhams Saturday only and UK FFord Monday only with the no running on Sunday these have been split so teams don't have to spend three days the circiut fo two days of racing

It all depends on where you look. The Oulton Park site says no T cars, but on 10 Tenths someone posted a different schedule that includes them. The list I posted came from Jeff Carter, the PR manager of the BGT and F3 series, but obviously like all events, it was subject to alteration. According to The Official BGT site, the timetable is thus:

Are they gonna be shown on TV?

Motors TV Schedules have been posted on the two championship websites.
www.britishf3international.com/tv.php
www.britishgt.com/tv.php

We are still waiting on Channel 4 to confirm which slot they are going to give us and we'll post this information as soon as we get it from them.
