It's the first race for the new cars in the Clio Cup and this happens within 100 yards:

(hi-res version has shattered glass glistening in the sun, I was very proud of my shutterwork)
ruining Palmer's freshly mowed lawn

(driver was OK)
and nearly trashing his armco

Then this bloke nearly writes his car off

Even at the restart they're still at it hehe

Record entry this year of around 50 cars meaning two heats and a final at each round, any bets on less than 10 cars by the final round?

I was having some instruction at a trackday only 2 weeks ago and a certain clio driver was there driving like a lunatic, just as he does in the races actually, wouldn't be so bad on a test day but diving inside and outside of trackdaysers was asking for trouble, that's why clio's is what it is, because of lots of young arsewipes who think bashing is driving, its a shame because there is alot of talent in the field

Those clios look stunning apart from the stupid roof mounted vent thing.

Cheers,
Rob.

Nice photos there. I was watching the guys at the front and couldn't believe it when I looked round and saw that car upside down.

Know what you mean, I was in one of the hospitality boxes, the viewfinder was aimed at the entry to Paddock when heard a nasty sounding bang, looked down and saw the carnage

Kevin, could you please email me at beyelerm@hertsessexnews.co.uk, I wondered if it might be possible to get a copy of your photo for the newspaper I work for.

Cheers,

Marc

They should have been thrown off the trackday for that. As you say, test days perhaps OK, but not on a trackday. I'd be having words with the organiser.

Sure, no problem - won't be able to do this until I get back from work (around 7ish) if that's OK? Which one are you after?

Great, thanks - after 7pm is no problem. The main one I'm after is the first one please - but do you have any others of the incident that aren't posted on here?

Hmmm... a few years ago Fly-you.nl was title sponsor of the Dutch Clio Cup - given the amount of young, sponsored-to-the-hilt young pranksters who invariably thought they could prove Jean Todt wrong in not giving them the second Ferrari F1 seat for that season during the first corner of the race, I used to refer to the series as the F*** You Clio Cup.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer gentleman racers (at least at this level) myself... thumbup

I doubt they'd have done anything, in fact I believe some did but from experience with this particular trackday company they don't give a toss either, overtaking by consent, like F**k is there!

I was at the same track day and did have words with the organisers about being overtaken on the "wrong side" and in corners (said Clio driver around the outside at Becketts) but the organisers appeared to do nothing. I shan't be using that company again.

yes mate, that's right, quaking! Nah I was having instruction because it'd been nearly 5 months since getting in the car and wanted to approach Silverstone a bit differently, that Simon Mason is a bit good you know.

Glad to hear you complained, had the same thing with them last year, 1st session and with a novice driving my car, nothing was said to them then either, don't plan on using them if i can help it

Why not name and shame the company in question?shoot

So other novice drivers don't get caught up in something not of their own doing!
