The rumor I heard was that one team "forgot" to hobble their car and were thus rather shocked to see how quick they were
Which takes me back to my very first point, about how fair was the test in the first place. I mean, excuse me for possible ignorance here, but what was the point in an equalisation test based on allowing teams to set up their own cars, especially according to last seasons setups? Surely the better thing would have been for a base car, the same starting point for each car. No disrespect to the teams involved here but you can bet your bottom dollar that someone, somewhere along the line will have given themselves a huge advantage in this testing and I think thats been seen in the results. I would say change your sentence from 'one team "forgot" to hobble their car' to 'one team were honest in their approach to the test'.Still, if this is the approach that the organisation wants to take, then I suggest next year that opposing teams set up each others cars. Now THAT would make for some interesting testing
Please remember though that my 'expert' opinion is exactly that...'Ex' is something that was and a 'spurt' is a drip under pressure :P
When I played hockey to a fairly high standard (many years ago!)everyone in the team undertook a pretty crude fitness test at the start of pre season training (a timed run over a set distance). Several weeks later we undertook the same test to assess the improvement in fitness from the traiing we were supposed to be doing on our own between team sessions.
Funnily enough, I always showed a dramatic improvement in fitness. It doesn't tak a genius to spot it had far more to do with having not tried very hard in the first test as opposed to the intensive fitness work I had done in the intervening period.
Sound familiar....?

All the times of the cars are being compared to that of the Qualifying performance from the race back in April 2007 and speed traps compared to, see my previous posting.
Fair enough, but surely every team would expect to get better performance from its cars after running a full season? Personaly I think this comment in Autosport says it all. and I quote ", I think every team was sandbagging, but because EVERYBODY was doing it I think the order was quite accurate" Of course with the car from the commentee being one of the best sandbagged cars that comment can be made!
Then add the Avon tyre compounds are changing for 2008 and SRO nievely trust the teams to turn up as they finished and you have the biggest joke in motorsport. Its also a fact of GT cars that some cars will be stronger at some circuits than others so why does this one test establish a balanced evaluation.
Since scrutineering in British GT does not existin any genuine form other than protest or words in ears there is no way to insure any form of balanced clarity from that test other than pure luck.
