Arriving just in time for winter testing (presumably with the new car) does this give Brawn sufficient time to make a real impact on Honda's 2008 performance or is their destiny for next year already determined?

I suspect Jenson must be one of the most excited F1 drivers on his way to work today.

It's on a few sites now - look like it was embargoed until today.

Brawn is a man with great presence and leadership - this could be the ingredient Honda has been lacking.

But with his long history of involvement with teams that have not been as honest as some might like, might any success at Honda be greeted with the raised eyebrow of suspicion?

This is exactly what Brawn needs. A new Challenge, and my god, will this be a big one to get his teeth stuck into.!!!

Well done Honda, here's to better times ahead.

At last, a sign that Honda really are serious about F1 and are getting their heads around how to succeed. That's quite a coup, well done to them.

And yes, Button must be a very happy bunny this morning, although of course Brawn is only one part of the package that turned Ferrari around.

Does this mean that Ferrari will need to get their inspectors (sorry, FIA inspectors) along to Honda to check for their IP?

No, they'll simply sue McLaren again - everything is their fault anyway wink

Could be a possibility for 2009 season - I think Honda will accept that they are going to use 2008 as a year of transition so why bring in Alonso who doesn't seem to be a team player until they have the car and org set up to deliver a real championship prospect. Based on what happened at McLaren I doubt anyone is going to give Alonso more than a year contract with an option, so that could work out well. So it's really going to be a make or break year for Jenson, but with the reduction of on-board gadgetry in 2008, and the arrival of Brawn, it might just be the convergence of factors that will see Honda/Jenson make it back to the front of the grid. And for Honda, the prospect of 2009 with Alonso/Button and Brawn/?Stepney/?Byrne doesn't look too shabby!

It's still ten years before Button is the age Schumi was at when he retired.

Let's hope that Brawn came with a 'total engineering control' proviso, to cut Japan out of the decision-making loop.

I'd imagine they told him he wasn't wanted...

Which all seems to back up the story about Todt moving up or out and Di Montezemolo bringing Alonso in in 2009.

I think we'll only see the effect of Ross Brawn on the 2008 Honda team when racing starts up again next March.

I expect his input to be to bring the team together and focus in a way that they never quite have done thus far, even in 2004 and the latter half of 2006. And of course we'll likely see some clever tactical manouevring from the team during races, another factor that Honda has not excelled at in the past.

I just hope that the '08 car isn't a complete dog, or this will be all for naught.

Can one man a team make?
How long has Adrian Newey been at Red Bull?
They haven't exactly become title challengers, despite his pedigree.
I reckon Ross Brawn will find success harder to come by than he might imagine.

I hope I'm wrong, as I like Honda, I like Brawn and I like Barrichello and Button.

Newey had a very quick and dramatic impact on reliability this year. Just look at the results, on occasions the cars nearly got to the finish!
