I haven't got race tickets yet. Just flights (1st class woohoo) and hotels for that weekend.

They are going to light the track up like its daytime. They are even working on lighting up the sky so its the right colour.

hehehe - despite knowing that I was so looking forward to seeing what Cibie / Hella / KC could do in the rang of HID F1 headlights, because let's face it the Super Oscars or KC Daylighters are not what you would call aerodynamic biggrin

Would very much like to go - Singapore is a special place for my wife and I - but the GP falls in term-time so we're considering at the moment whether or not to approach the school for permission for our son to be absent during term-time.

My wife is a teacher and she agrees with me that it would be very beneficial for you son's education for him to attend the race. HTH thumbup

Hard to tell. It would be about £6/7K if I wasn't using miles for my flights. Hotel is around £250 a night that weekend.
I don't yet know how much the tickets will be.

Is the qualifying going to be done at night or will that be done during the day or in normal light?

Hotel booked, nothing special but fairly central £540 for 5 nights. Check Hotels.com

As for taking kids out of school try this excuse www.f1inschools.co.uk and get your kids design/engineering teacher to take part in the competition

I haven't noticed anyone mention the extension to GoogleEarth that lets you fly around the circuit in Singapore.

well thats a trip and a half. if you get any chance to spend some time in LA then do!...i went there for teh longbeach gp a few years ago and it was awesome. i can highly reccomend the yard house, its on a pier along shoreline drive, overlookin the harbour with the QE2 in the distance, great food, great beer! plus you can drive around the LBGP track while your there
