It's a done deal, XD DRIFTMASTER 2007 REMMO NIEZEN will definitely compete in the D1 All Star Match on November 25th, 2007 at the Irwingdale Speedway in the United States.

On October 8th Remmo Niezen officially secured his Benelux title by winning the Xtreme Drift championship at Venray Raceway. In April 2007 there had already been email contact between D1 and XD, and shortly after Remmo Niezen won the XD title, XD once again received an email from D1 USA. On the basis of his performance at XD, Remmo received an invitation to the D1 ALL Star Match. Prior to the All Star Match the D1 Finals will also take pace, in which Remmo will have to compete on Friday November 23rd at the Ikaten track in order to secure a place in the finals on Saturday November 24th.

XD immediately made an amount of EUR 1,500 available to support Remmo's participation, but what then happened was truly amazing. A spontaneous collection was set into action by Driftforum.nl, and resulted in a contribution of almost EUR 2,000 donated by drifters and drifting fans.

The largest obstacle was renting a competition drifting car. A number of proposals were taken into consideration. Christof Vanderlinden of XRP used all his contacts in the USA, XD and AVB Sports contacted various teams and on Wednesday November 7th the solution came in the shape of a message from the BRS team: their Toyo Tires RX-7 was available, a 530 horsepower drifting beast weighing only 1,100 kg and equipped with a sequential gearbox (http://www.brs-autodesign.com). Many thanks to XRP for contacting the right person.

A few last details were squared away last week: a rental contract was drawn up, a crew organised and a tire sponsor and spare parts were found. Ultimately everything was sorted out; Remmo will be able to get in 2 days of free training on November 21st and 22nd and will have to make serious efforts to wear out all the tires provided.

Remmo will be supported by Andy Jaenen of XD as spotter, and will naturally also be supported by the Teuling Racing team. XD is also sending Joris Hoefakkers to the USA, given that Joris is eminently suitable for producing a detailed and colourful report of this unique trip. Thanks to the cooperation between Xtreme Drift and Pro Drift Europe, Darren McNamara will also support Remmo. Darren has already spent one year driving on a professional basis in America and secured the title "Rookie of the Year" in 2007.

XD hopes to be able to show the report during the XD Fanday and XD Awards on Saturday December 29th, 2007 at the racing track in Zolder.

Both XD and Remmo would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this trip possible, in particular all the drifting fans and drifters for their generous financial contribution.

You should probably post this on Driftforum.nl, since they were the ones who gave you all the money.
