any team taking on webber is asking for trouble, ok perhaps not all of his own doing but trouble folows him like it followed johnny herbert, a shame but some people will never be where its perceived that they should and webber is one of them

can't see it happening

Flav wants Alonso and will agree to the 1 year deal that Alonso wants
(as we all know Alonso's signed to Ferrari for 2009) The Renault boss refuses to sign Alonso for anything less that a 3 year deal - though what does a contract mean in F1 these days !

Can't see him going to Red Bull - think it's just as likely he'll sit out a year

Mclaren are making noises about Rosberg still - and Frank's apparently willing to sell him for a big cash deal

Do we really think that Alonso will sit out a full season? That's a long time in F1, what with all the changes re traction control etc.

Unless he does some testing with the red team.........

Flav's put another deadline in for tomorrow - sign or FO
but I'm sure Alonso's waiting for the FIA hearing next month

He's manager has said they will have a deal in place within 14 days

Would Red Bull sign him ?
It would be interesting - Alonso is a great driver - be interesting to see if he could pull out anything from the Red Bull

Webber to Renault ? (He's a Flav driver)
I think DC would give Alonso a hard time though - he'd just wind the crap out of Alonso smile

I think Keki (sp) and Nico would have something to say about that. I am one of the first to whinge about MS never having anyone in the same team who was even near his standard day in day out (let's be honest, Massa and RB have their days)but I think that it would be the wrong thing to do to send Nico there.

Maclaren is almost guaranteed to have it's heart (even if practically they still treat both drivers equally)in LH's camp and LH has proved he is every bit as good (if not better IMO) than Nico day in day out.

Add to that the 'help' Williams is going to get from Toyota for signing a Japanese driver I don't think they will rush into anything 'for the money' this year at least.

F1 is a long term game, even if the pace of development, etc is lightening, and a few £mil today isn't going to make Frank's decision for him, unless he has a seat fitting booked in for Fonzo, when there are much bigger games afoot.

Indeed, depends on what happens to Renault, signing Alonso would make them a threat to Ferrari next year after all...

But seriously, Flavio may say he wants Fernando for more than a year but if he's really going to have an all-new line up for next year would anyone settle for Webber/Piquet Jnr? How different is that going to be to this year's pairing?

No we don't, and neither do you. There's no way Alonso will go to Ferrari while Kimi is there.

Yes, but if someone from Williams went down there to keep Snowball more than 10 degrees cooler than ambient, there shouldn't be a problem.

Like the reports of his further histrionics post Macca.......and sponsers being less than impressed........as well as the pressure from Reggie regards the 3 year take it or leave it.

Really would love to see him left out in the cold for next season.....laughlaugh

Blimey they don't learn do they? Renault lost Prost in '83, Benetton lost Schumacher in '95. They lost Alonso in '06 and now they're trying to lose him again.

Someone might call that careless...

A bit late to this topic (I'm actually searching for something else Flemke sais recently) but I would love to see Webber get a top drive, would finally silence the critics (or me...)
