Yes, why not? he deserves it and not just because he is Welsh and trains up the road from me.

Your ignorance isn't really a good reason for him not to win.

My thoughts exactly....

Maybe he [OP] should host next years so he can get it 'right'.

I voted for Joe Calzaghe. He fully deserves the accolade IMHO.

Okay, just Googled him.

Sincere apologies, he is a legend. He's won 2 boxing matches this year.

I am wrong.

Although he's a great boxer, I cant help but think that Calzaghe got a lot of the votes that Hatton would have otherwise got if he'd won last night. Boxing has been big news this last week and he may well have benefitted from that, especially as Hatton lost.

Big shame that James Toseland didn't get a few hundred more votes though to displace Hatton and get him into the top three frown

1. Joe Calzaghe 177,748 (28.19%)
2. Lewis Hamilton 122,649 (19.45%)
3. Ricky Hatton 85,280 (13.53%)
4. James Toseland 84,570 (13.41%)
5. Jason Robinson 67,061 (10.64%)
6. Paula Radcliffe 34,895 (5.53%)
7. Jonny Wilkinson 30,302 (4.81%)
8. Andy Murray 13,242 (2.1%)
9. Justin Rose 10,227 (1.62%)
10. Christine Ohuruogu 4,481 (0.71%)

Joe has been at the top of his game for a decade, he has won the Welsh Sports Personality 3 times including this year. Its about time he got national recognition.

Being unbeaten for 17 years and undisputed champion at your chosen sport must count for something!!!

Shame then that Andy Priaulx missed out on even a nomination. What does the guy have to do to be recognised??

Reminds me of the BBC picking up the World Superbikes just before the end of Foggy's career banghead

the perfect outcome. Lh deserved some recognition, but not to win, its hard for AP or JT to get a look in with smething like this because of how little coverag there is, and also how big their dicplins are wihin he general public perseption.
the same would also be true of Joe, except to be undisputed world champ, AND have been world champ for
10
count them
10
years, is a spectacular achievement.
just a shame he didn't wn last year because though he's dne great things this year, his total distruction of Geof Lacey, ( who was going to tear Joe appart supposedly) was the best fight I have ever seen.
plus it was soooooooo fixed last year so the zara big teeth philips hurl could win FFS!!!
who would have voted for that?
apart from the butlers and maids in the palace!!!

good point about Hatton, had he won, he would have taken 50% of the vote.

Would have laughed like a drain if the Beeb had gone all the way out to Las Vegas with a film crew and box full of trophies and the two boxing chaps had won nothing!!!!!

But then the voting only finished 10 minutes before, and of course, NOTHING AT THE BBC IS EVER RIGGED IS IT????

Oh yes, F1 is on ITV........

Nice bit of unbiased, based in reality comment there.

Hamilton is good at what he does, will SPOTY make any difference to his career, no.
All the random Hamilton bashing smacks of jealousy
