He's golden boy at the moment - the press wont touch him. Imagine Alonso in the same situation, it'd be 'lunatic Alonso in 140mph rampage'.

Just to add I dont like Alonso but we all know its true

Just heard on the radio he was caught at 122mph on a french autoroute. They also mentioned a fine of £400+ which I guess will have been the normal on the spot 750 euro fine towards to the court case for higher level speeders.

If you're going to lose your licence for a month, best time to do it is in December I reckon hehe

I presume the French police confiscated his licence. So that means a ban in France, but he can still drive everywhere else.

Curious how they press report it though. Radio 5 was doing it as if it was amusing/ironic. That's fair enough but can you imagine if he'd done 120mph+ on the M1? They'd have a different tone then I bet.

They reported this on BBC Radio Kent, and said that it had happened on Sunday (last I assume). Does this mean that the police act as enforcers, prosecuters and magistrate rolled into one? Unless there was a court hearing yesterday / today of course.

Didn't an F1 driver get clocked a few years ago at around 150? I remember the company/team that had given them the car released a statement that said they'd like to know how he got the car up to such a speed. It was a diesel IIRC.

There have been plenty of F1 drivers caught, and it's not a big story, but they should face the same penalty as the rest of us really.

I have been to LM, driven the Mulsanne, visted the museum - just not on a race weekend. 4 wheels good, 2 wheels better.
