Help required. As well as drivers requiring to renew their MSA Race License for 2008, rumours abound that teams need to apply for one as well (if running in a MSA approved Championship).

Is this correct?? The lady at the MSA didn't seem to know!

The appropriate wording in the MSA Competitors Yearbook states:

"To accrue points or any other form of recognition towards an award or title any organisation, team, company, sponsor or person must be in possession of a valid Entrant's Licence".

We run in the Britcar Championship and the drivers have licences - do they not count as "persons"?! Or do we need an additional license for Jemco Racing (even though the drivers have them)?

IIRC correctly an "entrant" is required to have a licence. If your car is entered by one of the drivers then they have a licence. If you have a separate entrant (Team XYZ) I think the entrant is required to have a licence.

In reality we don't usually ask for entrants licences at sign on but I think the entry form might include a declaration that the entrant has a licence?

If the entrant (as opposed to the driver) wants to protest or appeal they would have to produce an entrants licence.

Speak to Cheryl Lynch at the MSA, she knows all!

It used to be that being the entrant gave you two things. An entry in the Programme stating your team as the entrant of the car and the right to accompany the driver should there be any protests etc.
This has been relaxed over recent years.
I don't see why it is now required. Apart from the revenue it generates..bandit

I assumed licenses would all be free this season what with McLaren sponsoring the FIA to the tune of a $100m.
