Discussion
Caterham R400. Im looking for a dry tyre as i use the CR500 in the wet.
True about the heat cycles, around 6-7 and there gone. However my mate ran them all year on his pheonix R1 untill they started to de-laminate,(if thats the right terminology), and his times were still on the pace.
I ran Toyo R888's on a fury blade last year and thought they were reasonable, only problem is they are limited in sizes with no 235/45/13's. A few of my mates had the Kumho's and reckon they were the business although it took a lot to get the heat into them initially. Suppose it depends on the weight of the car and the power.

It is a couple of years ago, so maybe they have improved the compound a bit since them.
The tasmins were relativly low powered 170bhp and fairly heavy 1100-1200 with driver, and to get good times out of them you needed to 4 wheel drift, and maintain momentum. Although I think the tyres we used were originally specced for the BMW's.
I've still got loads of 15inch Kumho's with loads of tread that are buggered due to the heat.
At the old anglesey going straight doen to buisness I could consistantly get
outlap 2 laps as the tyres warmed up, 1 hot lap and then the tyres would start to go off..
Thats the only time in qually I've gone out done 5 laps and pitted and watched the times.. thankfully pole ;-)
Can you not get dunlop do3j's in the right size.. going from kumho to do2j was like night and day.
