Of course Ferrari cheat. All F1 teams cheat. The only thing different in 2007 was that McLaren and Renault got caught.
Spot on - if you get caught you've got only yourself to blame.
unless the head of the FIA doesnt have it in for you, then he will blame you and fine you $100 million and stop you rightfully winning the manufacturers title...

wink
It will mean though that the 2008 McLaren will be the first championship winning car that is so on merit and not through cheating/spying/stealing

still using the extnded "fin" all the way down the back of the airbox. I wonder where they nicked that from? scratchchin It also appears to still have shit looking wheeltrim covers like mountain bikes had in th 80's. I know theyre functional but goddammit theyre ugly.
Rumour has it Ferrari are experimenting with clickers for the F2009. No benefits you understand, just to further f**k up the look of the cars.

Indeed, it's well known and acknowledged throughout the paddock that the 2007 Constructor's Championship was not won on merit...

Does that mean that if you have a senior technician who is respected throughout the pitlane, and you piss him off so much that he gives away your team secrets to a rival, then you've got only yourself to blame?
No, it means that if a number of your engineers decide to keep and use stolen data from your main opposition, knowing it's source and the illegal way it was obtained, then you should not complain when you get caught.

at least Renault came clean and admitted to it - not that it makes them less guilty.

They admitted it after they were caught. Anyway, cant we put all that bollox in the past and wait and see what bollox the FIA come up with later this year to hobble the oposition.

Yep lets put it all behind us. Yep, McLaren forced into a shoebox sized pit. Yep, car 22 having to sprint up the pit lane to be in clear air for qualyifying 3 shootout. Yep lets put it all behind us even if the team have to live with the stigma. Roll on March, McLaren will be at the other end of the pit lane , , can't wait to see how far behind they are when the lights go out.

There is sweat FA we can do about that, it wont do McLaren any favours to keep banging on about 2007 when the majority of public only see what the FIA wanted them to see. I'd much rather concentrate on the 2008 season and making the best of that, you can guarantee thats what the guys at McLaren are doing.

Cannot disagree, John, but it would be nice if scum like Mosley and di Monty would themselves shut the fcuk up, instead of continuing their lame-brained whingeing about what did (but didn't really) happen in '07.

Perhaps a moot point, but NS didn't show much integrity in his actions. While Ferrari dicked him about I'm sure his wage and working conditions were fair.
Indeed, NS's behaviour is impossible to defend.
What I was referring to was yet another sweeping comment and strong opinion from someone who appears not to have read the transcripts.
No offence to coetzeeh (really), but the concept that "if you get caught, you've got only yourself to blame" has all the depth and complexity of a puddle. The only way that that idea can have any meaning is if you ascribe all the consequences of all the actions of all the members of an organisation to its leaders. But if you do that, you must say that Stepney's actions were to Ferrari leadership as Coughlan's actions were to McLaren's leadership.

Apologies again, coetzeeh.

They probably got the extended fin from the same place from which Chief Designer Nicholas Tombazis got the zero-keel, when he left McLaren and came to Ferrari.

I'm a McLaren supporter and you're a Ferrari supporter, so we're not likely to be singing Kumbaya together, but you really ought to read the transcripts - especially the last two (Renault hearing and FIA technical report on '08 McLaren). Although fairly long, they're quite interesting, and more than a bit different from the headlines that purported to represent them.

Cheers.

Do we know that yet?
And one wonders whether McLaren will make theirs longer... scratchchin
We've got, what is it, three different venues this year (Valencia, Hockenheim and Singapore)? Not sure whether the characteristics of those circuits will tip the balance of what is the optimal wheelbase one way or the other.
Ferrari have said that what they told the press was last year's wheelbase was intentionally incorrect (for which one would not criticise them), so even if they've said that the new car is "X", it need not mean anything.

Dunno, but the one in the centre clearly operates the "hands free"

Flemke - haven't seen you so openly vitriolic on here - you're usually a lot less confrontational/direct. Nothing niggling you then....you didn't go and swap your equity for some in Merrills did you smile

It was from a report that said they have fixed the problems from last years car, including a shorter wheelbase, but time will tell.
Maybe everyone else will make their wheelbase longer, more stability now traction control is gone.
