Have to admit I'm not expecting much from this car in 2008, I can't help but think the Woking based designers have had an arm tied behind their back due to their position with the FIA. rolleyes

Of course we will continue to develop the car from now until the first race in Australia and see whether we have done enough to be at the level where we want to compete this coming season.
scratchchin That's an odd thing to say. Is he suggesting that McLaren will possibly not compete in 2008 if the car is a lemon, or is he just implying they may stick with the 2007 car instead?

I hate to say it but I think that this year's car has been knobled already...

if they show *any* signs of it being better than the red car, it's fubared...

this will be a real shame, as with a decent open championship, we would have had at least 4 (and possibly 6-7) contenders...

Ahh, I just re-read it from a different perspective and it now makes sense. Perhaps he should get himself to the Dennis academy of communication, in order to cement his ability to convey his intended meaning by the utilisation of unambiguous syntax. wobble

On the other hand, maybe it's an example of modesty and humility, something their red-hued counterparts need to take note of?

I get the impression that it's last years car, what with the comments that the areo will undergo major improvments before Australia.

I kinda think they should have kept it under wraps for now, but then again, at least now the FIA and ourselves have seen the car, and can say, if they did get it out so quickly, then it must be free of Ferrari bits.

We shall wait and see how well it goes, but I agree, the unvailing does seem a tad quite.

why do they bother with launches of new cars anymore, or at least when they do, why does any one clap?

its not like its the revelation of something fresh new and amazing!
its the new car which looks exactly the same as the old car, why all the hulabaloo?
get over it.

So that the sponsors can get some airtime, which = ROI.

I think the new car looks very conservative, especially compared to the new Ferrari. Maybe that huge fine must have swallowed more of their budget than I first feared and they had to cut back certain elements of the design.

The new head protection regs make them look quite odd, but in the interest of safety I guess they're a neccessary evil.

Quite an odd looking launch though... why is Bernie there?! He never attends a launch, its like declaring his support for them or something.

Shameless plugging of Vodafone is pretty sickening, sure they pay good money to put their name on the car, but do the drivers really have to be made to look like such corporate bitches? Unless they normally stand around taking photos of each other, which i doubt. Heikki looked a little underwhelmed!
