Finished glassing the underside of the racer after a bolt on conversion. all the top bits are lovingly rubbed down and sprayed and generally looking pretty.

I am going to do the underside in racing white.

Its a rough fibreglass finish so i am going to prime, stonechip some areas that can be seen and then just brush paint.

Question. what is the best brushpaint to use, acrylic, enamel ? are there any specific paints suited to fibreglass.

anyone any ideas

Neil.

I only use two pack paint now. The Halfords aerosol stuff comes off when wiped with brake cleaner or you spill fuel on it.

This is the underside of the car? I'd go black and I wouldn't bother with the stone chip stuff. Arguably you don't need to paint it at all, although I did mine to try to make it a bit easier to clean

2 pack is of course quite dangerous and you need a proper respirator.

Failing that go for something fuel and oil resistant.

I have gone with high gloss white 12yr Bondapaint for yachts from CFS, Its a high solids polyeurethane paint specially formulated for fibreglass and extreme weather so should be at home under the race car.

prefer white under a car since it is brighter when working underneath, Also contrasts with the grey chassis so any cracks etc can be readily identified. Plus i will probably be spending more time under it than you do with your'slaugh

My powder coating all came back today. she will look bonny even if she doesn't go all that fast.
