Hello again !

A few images from a book I borrowed from the library recently. Sorry they are so big.

(If anyone can make them smaller, please feel free and I'll delete this original post if required)

Jochen Rindt

Is this not John Miles (Rindt did not wear a white helmet)?

These pictures are marvellously evocative of those days when motor racing was more raw, rough and ready than it is now.

That's the Napier Railton. Raced a few times by the Hon Patrick Lindsay at that time. Brave man with 24 litres of 12cyl broad arrow Lion aero engine and rear wheel brakes only!

The book says it is Rindt in a Lotus 72C. I can't confirm whether this is true. The book goes on to say that at the end of the race, Rindt stopped the car at Old Hall, collected his bag from a marshalls post and jumped into a nearby helecopter. He was on his way back to Vienna before Surtees had finished his slowing down lap.

Jochen wore a white helmet quite often...

And Simon Lewis rarely gets it wrong...

Found this, last night..

It's the programme from the 1985 Gold Cup, where I went as a young teenager to watch Andy Rouse battle it out with a certain Barry Sheene in a Celica Supra! I remember it very clearly.

Browsing through the pages last night, I was delighted to see some of the young men who entered the Formula Ford 1600 race during this weekend..

Damon Hill
Bertrand Gachot
Mark Blundell
Perry McCarthy

to name a few... little did we know what their futures held !

I'll look later at home. Is this from Oulton Park?

A few scanned recently: Maranello Challenge 1991. I reckon there are pretty much the first motor racing photos I ever shot.

Tis a good story - for those that'd like a bit of visuals - from his video Stand Well Back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejHT9olA_Uo

Cheers! I've got a load more - mostly Ferraris - which I'll get online soon. Love Oulton...

Does this pic show Rindt (other side of track, can't quite decide) heading for his plane after the race with the Lotus 72 parked on the grass?

Would be fantastic if this was the case and this picture actually captures that moment!

It looks like the picture is of Avenue which is just after Old Hall so that sort of stacks up. Helicopter/Plane - we'll overlook that for romanticism purposes smile

Hi

I picked up this rather old thread today. I have been clearing out enormous numbers of photographs taken by my dad, sadly no longer with us. There are quite a number that were taken at Oulton Park possibly late 50s, definitely early 60 onwards. Some are cars, some are the drivers and some are the crowd.

I am happy to post these off to to someone, at my expense, who will appreciate these and perhaps share them with other people who may find them of interest.

I am afraid I don't have time to scan them and send them electronically etc. The whole point for me is that I need to thin out drastically what I have been keeping.

Anyone interested? If more than one person would like them please can you agree amongst yourselves who will receive them and share them and then let me know. I am sure you will understand that I find this really upsetting. I just can't bear to throw them away though.

Hope to hear from someone

Thanks a lot

jurbie

Hi Carole, I'd be more than happy to give them a home and I can easily get them scanned and shared online. I will contact you by email with my address.
