I remember a few years ago at the Stoneleigh show there was a Lotus 79 top section for sale. Tempted...

I took that to be a Ferrari mechanic/painter. I was refering to the picture of the guy stood in front of the Cunningham below.

DSJ had planned to do the Mille Miglia with Fitch, then Mercedes drafted in Moss in place of Fitch. Fitch gave his blessing for Moss and Jenks to work together and the rest is history...

It's a fairly Italian thing to do.

Piero Taruffi once took out an advertising hoarding by a race circuit. He woke in hospital to a get well soon card from the company. In the envelope was a bill for replacing the hoarding. hehe
