That's the 1965 Sebring 12-Hours which was hit by a thunderstorm and flash flood. Many of the low-built prototype cars had to stay in the pits during the storm because they were taking water into the engine bay. The works MG Midget had a field day, passing just about everything on the track whilst it continued at more or less its usual speed. Pity it didn't last - the results could have been interesting.nicanary said:

They were MGBs. One prototype lost its way on the flooded track and was seen lapping the car park.

There were 2 works Midgets in the race also - I reckon the Andrew Hedges car could be the one I'm thinking of, or else the irrepressable and "up for it" Paddy Hopkirk in the works Sprite. He would have just booted it in conditions like that - right up his street, he always liked a good laugh. http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Sebring-1965...
