Rossi vs Biaggi: The MotoGP Years
Includes that Suzuka moment where Vale gives Max the bird, and Rossi's first win on a Yam at Welkom

Haga vs Bayliss WSBK Assen
Bike / Rider combinations can be legendary:
MV Agusta = Agostini
Yamaha 250 = Saarinen
RGV500 = Schwantz
NSR500 = Doohan
916 = Foggy
RC212V = Rossi
The clip above - for me - crystallizes two others: Nori Haga on a Yam R7 and Troy Bayliss on a 996.

Christ almighty.That's deeply impressive, especially his speed after Pflantzgarten 2.
Donington Park 2000, and it's the final round of the British Superbike championship.
All year, Chris Walker and Neil Hodgson have been bashing fairings and in the final race of the year - after finishing runner up three times on the bounce - all Chris has to do is finish fourth.
On lap 17, he's running a comfortable fourth.......

Another BSB classic, this time from 2011 (maybe a re-post, but I offer no apologies).
The final race of the year sees Tommy Hill and John Hopkins in a black-and-white situation: whoever finishes in front of the other wins the title. Simple as that.

The title is won by 6 / 1000ths of a second.

Another bike race.
World Superbike at Assen in 1999, with Carl Fogarty and Pierfrancesco Chili going head to head on identical Ducatis. Hard and fast racing, with Chili losing out:

The fun starts at 8:54.

I will admit that between 1995 and - say - 2006, I moved away from F1 back to motorcycle GP. Doohan was bending his NSR500 through the corners like no-one else, and a certain V. Rossi was making waves in the tiddler classes. As such, I missed stuff like
this
Hakkinen really was pretty bloody good, it seems.

If Rossi had won this race, he'd have secured the championship at the final round at Valencia. As it was, Toni Elias won
by 2 / 1000's of a second
I've always liked Toni's riding style; very much like Roberto Rolfo and I do think that much of Marc Marquez's riding is as a result of watching Toni and Robby.

500cc GP Philip Island 2000
Good, hard, fair and close racing from Rossi's rookie year in the top class.
An eye opening stat from this race is Jeremy McWilliams' pole time of 1' 32" : some five seconds slower than Jorge Lorenzo's pole lap from this year! I suppose that's what an extra 60bhp and traction control does for you.
