This makes me absolutely livid
The existence of the circuit pre-dated the complainant's term of residence. How can the complaint possibly be upheld? and not only upheld but measures as drastic as complete closure?
This could set a very dangerous precedent.
have you been to brands gp, donny (yeah the one next to east midlands airport), combe, bedford even bruntingthorpe (ex bomber runway) recently? there is no precedent to be set. european court of 'human rights' says these f vcking t wats are 'entitled' to peace and quiet, regardless of when they moved in...The existence of the circuit pre-dated the complainant's term of residence. if i owned any of these places i'd, begrudgingly, shut them down and turn them into a 'travellers' caravan site for a year or two. oh and a massive music festival site. igive the f vckers 6 months till they are begging for motorsport back.

The irony of the Castle Combe example posted by Tony is that 4 local residents opposed a race meet, not a track or corporate day, as a result F3/GT was lost along with hundreds of thousands of pounds coming directly into our local economy.
It's a sad state of affairs, the law is firmly on the side of local residents, even if they only moved in 5 minutes ago next to a circuit that has been in use for 50 years and was an airfield prior to that. Presumably these residents would prefer the land to be sold and 5000 homes turning up in their village.

Racing in the BTCS, Belcar, LMS, CER and GT Open means I'm there quite a bit (I think last weekend was my 10th trip there this year alone), so the mere thought of the place being shut down is something I can't really comprehend.
Common sense will, I'm sure, prevail. We have worse problems in Zolder with whinging locals, but a decent compromise has been reached.
We have a house in Zonhoven not too far from Zolder and it is the bikes you can hear more so than the cars, also have a house in Eksel, now that is noisey, KB airbase is just a few km away, and, well it has been the NATO Tiger Meet these past few weeks and it seems like every country's airforce is here above my house, far louder than Zolder or Spa.Common sense will, I'm sure, prevail. Think I'll try and go there this weekend with the lad.
Just read about the croft injunction there.
I completely fail to understand the legal mechanics behind this, it makes no sense whatsoever to me. I'm fairly sure if I moved into the vicinity of an airport, I couldn't complain about noise - so why are they allowed to do it with racetracks that pre-date their residency?

There's a lot more background to the Croft case than just a moaning neighbour..I completely fail to understand the legal mechanics behind this, it makes no sense whatsoever to me. I've just heard that the circuit has got permission to run this weekend's Six Hour event.
The transporters already there should be let in shortly. I'll be heading off in a few hours time to compete over the weekend.
Thank fk for that! The transporters already there should be let in shortly. I'll be heading off in a few hours time to compete over the weekend.
Hopefully the residents have realised thier precious houses will plummet in value if the area became a ghost town post-circuit shutdown...

Not just motorsport either. My football team wanted to move out of the city into a new big stadium years back. A site was found next to the Waterloo mainline railway, the areas busiest motorway and the regions largest airport. Local residents oppossed the stadium due to noise and won.

Cross posting a bit but have Just received a text from my friend at circuit and he reports a compromise has been reached for the weekend of the 6 hours. He now has a (pit) garage key and is just about to go in. It appears that the compromise also affects the historic F1 meeting from my limited understanding of the the article posted on the other thread.
