I don't think they wanted people to have all the pics and info just yet. There is still another 30 odd mins to go before the official launch.

I think its a very aggressive approach the McLaren engineers have taken, and with significantly less RB influence than the Ferrari. The high nose does without the top surface protrusions and the side pods are so small, there is almost a second area to accommodate the volume of the engine / exhausts.

Have to agree, if these are indeed the official pictures then it does seem like an aggresive approach which Whitmarsh did confirm to a few months ago. Good to see that there engineers and designers have the balls to try something different.

I just hope it doesnt fall on its face like last years car did.

Reading the (cough) presspack, some of the cooling has been taken away from the sidepods and is now in the tail fin section. This allowed them to put some of the fuel in the space where the radiators were in the sidepods. They wanted to keep the wheelbase and bodywork dimensions as compact as possible.

look nice! very low and the narrower front tyres give it the illusion that it is wider at the back than the front

was still hoping for more orange though frown

oh and as for all the redbull influences, i recall ross brawn saying at some point last season that 2010's cars would look a lot like this years redbull...think ferrari took that a bit too serious!

I presume they don't have as large cooling requirement now that the KERS is gone too.

The wheels. Look at them - they're identical.

(I was thinking of the RB 2008 car - with that extended section over the engine - bugger!)

I was thinking that too, their sidepods were the same size as everyone else's last year, now they have lost KERS cooling, and the KERS batteries (which were under the fuel tank). That frees up a lot of room around the fuel tank, I guess. I imagine they have put their oil cooler at back of the engine on top of the gearbox like everyone else...

They're still reaping the rewards of the Ferrari blueprints I see!

Didn't the Red Bull have a similar fin at the end of last season?

^^^ hehe

I think the Ferrari looks pretty under developed compared to the McL pics so far, look at the detailing at the back...
