PH has been invited (by Audi) to interview Allan McNish, the sportscar and F1 (well, he might have been...) ace who is gunning for a third Le Mans victory this year.

So has anybody on this forum got good questions they would like us to ask 'Nishy' in a couple of weeks time? We'll aim to focus on Le Mans, but that doesn't rule out other topics - although we probably won't have a great deal of time.

Daft and/or insulting questions will be read with interest/amusement as applicable, but don't blame us if we only use the sensible ones. (Assuming we get some...) smile

Thanks in advance, sportsfans!

Was fortunate enough to meet/work with Allan when he was with Toyota F1. Lovely bloke and amazing talent.

In this regard, I suppose you could ask whether he would have liked to stay in F1?

Do you think that the development of factoy backed diesel cars in LMP1 has damaged the competitiveness of the category?

How much of the Le Mans victory in the R10 was down to H? Was there any difference in his (H's) race due to the filming of Truth in 24?

and on a less serious note;

Does Reinhold Joest really dye his hair?

Does it always rain at Le Mans?

Having driven both F1 and LMP cars, which one actually puts the biggest grin on your face, or is there another category that achieves that goal?

If he crashed out in the 1st hour at Le Mans which bar would he most likely head to?

Or

If you exclude actually driving the car, what part of the Le Mans weekend is the hardest and/or most enjoyable.

Yes:

His old website had merchandise, and was always "coming soon". His new website doesnt even have a merchandise page. I'd love to buy a hat or something to show my support of Alan at le mans

Also, it would be interesting to hear in his opinion, what went wrong at Toyota. I say "wrong", because they had the budget, the talent, and they even held their own testing sessions immediately after each race the year before they officially entered. And Toyota were successful in rallying, Le mans and BTCCin theirt time. They know how to win, but couldnt do it in f1

Oh, and finally. he's had some great team mates in the Audi squad. There must be some good tales to tell..!!!

Comparing different circuits in different cars which car / circuit gives him the most satisfaction? Is it an LMP1 at Spa or an F1 car at Suzuka?

Secondly how important is professional management today in regard to a successful motorsport career? Is this an area he wished he had more experience in as a junior?

Are the petrol cars really only lacking the resources to get them on the level with the diesels, as Anthony Davidson reckons?

his old man owns cross flags bmw garage.. Ask him where he parks his company Audi when visiting his dad at work?

ask if it was true that the Coulthards, Macraes and Mcnish's used to hang out together and if he has any stories from that time.

ask him about his best time as a racing driver and his worst time.

Ask him what he's actually doing as president of the SMRC other than turning up at the awards dinner and pretending he cares while handing out a few trophies.

Hardly short of contacts with influential ppl but as far as I can tell has done NOTHING in the promotion of scottish motorsport or drivers

Assuming Allan takes his other half to Le Mans.

Has he ever done much naughtiness between stints in the car?

If he had, I'd definitely high five him.

What cars does he have in his garage, and would he ever consider owning a Porsche ?

You could ask him how he felt when Audi paired him up with Kristensen the most sucsessful Le Mans driver and the then Audi team lead driver , was it a case of that'll give me the best chance of winning - or was it - it will be good not to just follow the lead car home and not have the opportunity to go for the win , they obviously thought him worthy of the No1 car driver status and knew he could handle it.

also

How hard is it to be very careful on the first lap or two , after all it is a 24 hour race but racing drivers are racing drivers aren't they ?

I'd quite like to know, given his relatively limited race programme each year, what else he would like to try his hand at racing. And not necessarily just other cars.
