How about we wait to hear of Kubica's condition before talking about his replacement
Amen to thatI believe Quick Nick is still deserves a seat in F1. However, dispite reletively unimpressive performances so far neither Senna nor Grojean have had a proper opportunity in F1. On balance, considering the second driver is Petrov, I would opt for Hiedfeld.
Quote in the Autosport article:
"Should Kubica not be fit for the start of the 2011 season, his Renault team has no shortage of reserve drivers.
However, team principal Eric Boullier made it clear last week that Bruno Senna would be his number one choice to slot into a race seat - because he is the one with the most contemporary F1 experience.
"I will give it to the one who is ready," Boullier said when asked which of his reserves was most likely to be used first. "Bruno is the most ready driver."

The only way Senna will shine in the 'lotus' would be if they passed him the autoglym and a rag in the morning.
well let's hope they give you a call to do a better job.Gutted for Kubica and the sport.
Mad to think he comes out unscathed from that massive crash in F1 and does that much damage in a rally car at 'relatively' slow speed.

Definitely shows how safe F1 cars are these days!Gutted for Kubica and the sport.

I think it was Murray Walker that said 'you'd be hard pushed to kill yourself in a modern F1 car' (or words to that effect)

I hope he makes a swift recovery and that some of the darker rumours of a double amputation are completely unfounded.
Imo he is easily a top five driver, possibly top three and the Renault has looked good so far.

Completely different sport really, anything solid is mostly out of harms way in F1, while rally drivers are always inches away from disaster. I think it was Murray Walker that said 'you'd be hard pushed to kill yourself in a modern F1 car' (or words to that effect)
Very hard to get the balance between the danger that attracts people to rallying and keeping people safe.
I hope he makes a speedy recovery as he's clearly one of the most talented of the current crop of drivers.
However, it puts Renault I'n a fascinating position regarding who to replace him with. With the best will in the world his return will be 3 months away at best based on the injuries being reported. They have 5 reserve drivers, of which 2 are possible replacements but given this would mean Petrov being the 'team leader' neither are particularly suitable. If Robert is ruled out for the season then I'd put a lot of money on Renault signing Heidfeld, Hulkenberg or Raikkonen but what will be really interesting is to see how Senna or Grosjean compare to Petrov, I think either could genuinely beat him on merit and any of the above outcomes will make things difficult politically for the team.
