Feel for the guy but if he is serious about making an F1 comeback and I certainly would like to see it surely you keep away from potential sports that significantly increase the potential to do harm.
I know some drivers ski but in his case I think he should have learned his lesson last year.

All the reports I have seen say he fell over on some ice?

So unless he was ice skating, I think he was probably taking it easy wink

He spent a bit too much time at the 'super physically fit', intelligence and 'supreme natural driving ability' counters. Buggered about at the back of the looks queue and was born by the time he realised he should have stopped off at the 'luck' one.

Poor sod indeed, if he didn't have bad luck he'd have none.

My fault. Sure I read he'd been skiing. Hope he gets back soon as F1 needs him.

Oh I dont know. He was lucky enough for his parents to support him all through karting- never cheap
He was lucky enough to be an F1 driver
lucky enough not to have a career like some very talented drivers (Davidson, etc al)
Lucky enough for team orders to allow Heidfeld to let him pass so he could win his only F1 race

To me, thats good luck. Very good luck. The sort of luck that very few talented drivers ever have.

But is he bad luck to have... (from wikipedia)

"...Kubica moved to the Formula Three Euro Series. However, his move was delayed by a road accident which left him with a broken arm, and titanium screws holding it together...."

"...his car made contact with Jarno Trulli's Toyota, and hit a hump in the grass which lifted the car's nose into the air and left him unable to brake or steer. The car then hit the concrete retaining wall and rolled as it came back across the track, striking the opposite wall on the outside of the hairpin and coming to rest on its side...."

Then there was that crash last february, now this.

So is he unlucky, does he have a death-wish, a desie to push himself into dangerous positions to prove himself somehow, or does he (like some other drivers) feel he is immune to the laws of physics, and can take risks which others wouldnt. But for him, they never work. They didnt work once for Colin Mcrae either.

Either way, unless a very bad fall, I'd have thought that a 'match fit' F1 driver would be far less prone to such injuries, what with all of the muscle and sinew. I fear that, if this has happened, this might be an indication that he is altogether too fragile to get back inside an F1 car in the foreseeable.

Regardless of muscle, recently broken bone is quite weak - but I agree, there was no way he was ready for a March return.

The poor chap is closer to 30 than 20 these day isn't he? How many more seasons can he miss before his time has gone or has it already?

It appears that Robert is feeling well enough to go rallying again or at least take his car out for a private test.

Although no pics it seems of him actually driving the car or even just sitting in the drivers seat holding the wheel.

Good to see him up and about.

Getting in a Fabia should have killed a few demons...

Some will no doubt say that it is a dumb move on his behalf if he has actually driven the Fabia in anger.

Personally i think it is probably the best thing he could do - similar to Alex Zanardi completing the missing 13 laps.....

That's great to see. Though I have to say that I'm confused as in other reports http://www.crash.net/f1/news/177473/1/kubica_unabl...
Then it sounds as if things are worse than reported.

I do hope not though and only time will tell.

Always doubt the source.

Especially that source.

Well quite. Anything from crash generally needs a bucket of salt on standby!

The Alguersuari story has been linked on f1technical too, from a few different places. Along with the rally pictures above. Opinion is that Algies story seems to conflict with the pictures, so he may be st spreading because he's after Massa's 2013 Ferrari seat which has been linked to Kubica. Apparently Ferrari are setting up an F10 with a 2014 spec V6 turbo as a test car that can be driven outside the testing ban.
