Why would Mercedes have an 07/08 spec customer Ferrari?

if i answer that question, am i going to get a woosh parrot flying at me?

the rumours are that ferrari are trying to assess kubi on their simulator and at some point he will drive one of their previous season tests. Whilst this is on a private track, it will be reported on and other teams will get to learn if he's actually capable of piloting an F1 car again or not.

Interesting. "The doctor also said that the Polish driver had been carrying out tests in a simulator prior to the operation."

But the damage still seems to be horrific - basic range of movement issues, and parts of elbow replaced.

Tricky joints, elbows, very complex with a whole bunch of nerves running through them.

Good to see he is making some progress...

It would be such a loss if he didn't make it back, such a strong driver.

Not a chance of him going back to F1 i'd say, having had similar issues to him, if he's stil in the surgery stage he's a long way off being out of pain an healed, 18 months at least.

Yeah, I'm guessing having to take your hand off the steering wheel to turn left isn't ideal!

I still think he may turn up in GT racing of some description. Who wouldn't want to share a drive with Kubica in an F430 GT3 say?

Although more surgery obviously implies that he isn't there yet it's good to hear that this op is aimed at improving his mobility rather than some kind of further set back like his leg was the other month.

The problem Kubica will have if he ever returns to sufficient fitness to drive an F1 car is where he will go.. currently there are more high quality drivers than there are seats at top teams and while he was certainly a good driver beforehand his ability after two (possibly more) years out with serious injuries is always going to put a question mark over him.

I'll be very surprised if he returns to F1 at all, and if he does I doubt it will be with a top team.

The nerve that runs from your big to, to your vertebra contains cells that are that long, and not little cell, little cell little cell.
Cut through the axion, or cell body, and the nerve stops working stops working, whether afferent, sensing, or efferent, causing movement, they just stop working.

I'm not takimg the piss here because I'm sure Stuttgartmetal has just written a very informative post about the structure of the central nervous system...

...but after I'd finished reading it I thought I had been reading the lyrics of an Ed Sheeran song!

I fell over 6 years ago and hurt my knee. No blood, just hurt a lot. I,d pulled the tendon off my shin that makes the leg work.

Anyway, the docs glued it together. 6 years later I have conflicting sensations in my knee. Eg touching it in the wrong area is like attaching a mains lead to it, whilst in other areas I have no sensations.

Mechanically it works ok, but feeling and response wise, it's completely wired up in a random way now. Some days it feels fine, other days it feels very weird. And that's just a knee. Imagine a hand, finger, wrist etc.

Nerves are a major wiring job that have been trained in operation since before birth. It's a big (impossible) job to rewrire them perfectly, especially when there must be thousands and thousands of connections.

Just my tuppence worth, but I sincerely hope RK can win through.

I hadn't realised we were supposed to run all our musings through Google translate before posting. Thanks for the heads up.
